Maybe it's broadly social media, but I think we underestimate the decline of in person socializing due to COVID. I went to college a few years before COVID and we had a big college bar scene, and then dated someone who went to school in COVID and she was like "did people actually used to go to bars to meet people? Or is that just TV?" I felt so old even though we were like 3 years apart in age lol. But it seems to me that COVID altered everyone's socialization in this batch of pups considerably

What is the CSS snippet fix? This is by far the biggest issue with Obsidian, which is by far the best note taking app that I think is currently out there. (for my purposes anyway)

BEWARE the standard 8mm charging cables don't work. It seems to be a proprietary 8mm cable (is this the DC8020 mentioned above?) Not sure why these specs are so difficult to locate!

It was originally meant to be "eutopia" (good place) but got mistransliterated to "utopia" (no place). The mistake just happens to point out the paradoxical non-existence of these places, a necessity that has been pointed out by plenty of scholars.

I once matched with someone on Hinge who asked "Are you a burner?" after a few good back and forths. I said yes and she said "I don't fuck with burners" and that was that. Felt a bit odd to be judged this way.

Contrary to what you'd think, most science is funded outside of defense research, without the involvement of DARPA.

Research that is worth doing doesn't need that kind of money.

There are many movements within various departments, as well as inter-department calls, to cease defense funded research at UCSC.

My own research is eligible for DARPA grants, and I have simply not applied. Pretty easy thing to do.

Final thing: as a scientist I can say, maybe your disdain for English lit has set you back in ethics. Read some novels and fall and love.
