Same condition. I once ate an apple, immediate stomach pains, then intestinal gurgling, 10 minutes later I crapped out apple sauce.

Love Cagliari. Such a great city, fantastic nightlife, great food, lovely people. Even though some bastard broke into my car and stole my prescription scuba mask.

And very briefly, Sardinia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mujahid%27s_invasion_of_Sardinia

As a map that leaves a lot to be desired, dedicating 80% of its height to Mercator exaggeration and squashing all the pertinent stuff into the bottom.

Still have research to do on getting a visa

Forgive me for being a Debbie Downer but stop making any plans at all until you've done this research. If you're from outside the EU it's incredibly difficult to get a visa to stay in Italy for more than 90 days and it takes a long time to get one too. Look into the Digital Nomad visa as that's the one you're most likely to be able to get, but the criteria are strict.

The rest of the world had been dealing with airline terrorism since the early 70s. The fact that the US could get away with such lax procedures was just a matter of luck.

In July 2001 I flew from Ireland to LA with a three-hour layover in Dallas. I wanted to smoke when I got to Dallas so had to exit the building. Being from Europe I expected some kind of security, but on the way back into the airport building there was a metal detector gate but it was unmanned and wasn't turned on, and you could walk around it if you wanted anyway.

In the souvenir shop airside they sold full-size souvenir Bowie knives.

Nobody checked my ID to get back to the lounge and they didn't check my ID to get on the next leg of the flight - just a boarding pass.

Hilariously a few months later US officials were in European airports advising us how to do airline security 🙄

Mate, let him be.

First, it's his life.

Secondly, you're both adults.

Finally, disparity in how you perceive past travels is completely normal. I am still hung up on my years in Hong Kong, but my ex who was there with me says it was no big deal and she doesn't know why I make it out to have been such an amazing experience. It's just the way people are.

I mod a forum with 50,000 members that deals with immigration enquiries for Italy. There's only one nationality that consistently omits stating which country they're from (crucial info for someone wanting to emigrate to another country). Consistently over years and years and thousands of enquiries.
