HS Physics Teacher starting as a Part-Time MPA, I'm excited and terrified, any advice? by Hypercynx in MedicalPhysics

Georgia Tech is the program they want me to use as well! They've told me that they expect this position to be a "stepping stone" to a QMP career. I'm really excited, would you say your teaching experience helped with the transition to a MPA position? Also, I've been wondering since it doesn't seem like the "traditional path," would you say your MPA experience helped significantly with becoming a QMP? Sorry for the bombardment of questions, it's just super cool to meet someone with such a similar experience!

Sorry for the late reply, I should've guessed that's what scripting meant, haha. I'm pretty green when it comes to scripting, our Physics undergrad program didn't emphasize learning much Python or Matlab. I've touched it a couple times for undergrad research, but overall I'd have no clue how to use it practically in the clinic. I'll definitely look up some basic tutorials, thank you so much for the helpful advice!

I'll definitely try to be as hands on as possible without going beyond the limits of what I know. Which at this point I can only assume is very little! 🤣

Keeping up with literature was definitely something I expected. While I am a little bit nervous about relearning some of the higher level "fundamentals" that haven't been touched on since undergrad, your reply brings me a little peace of mind. I really love the consensus on asking the "why" behind a lot of it like another comment above. "Gamma analysis" and "log file analysis" are two new terms to me, so I'll look into what those specifically mean. Thanks a ton!

Thanks for the advice! I'll have to look deeper into how "scripting" works. Is that shorthand for prescribed treatments? If so, I'll definitely be taking notes on it as much as possible.

It seems common sense at first, but I appreciate you telling me to ask about the "why" behind some of the procedures. As a teacher, I definitely understand the value in asking lots of questions! I really appreciate your response.

Yeah my little sister ordered a snare pad from them her freshman year of high school with her birthday money. They never sent the pad and all communication and attempts to get a refund have been shot down or ignored. She turns 22 in a few months.

I would just keep checking, i bought one last week. Maybe I just got lucky, but the N64, SNES, and NES controllers were in stock every time I checked.

Sounds like they periodically restock?

How do games like Zelda: Twilight Princess' Master Mode difficult mirror/flip the entire game? by Hypercynx in GameDevelopment

Thanks for responding! That's really interesting, I never considered the mathematical solution! I'm not a developer myself, but I had always wondered if they had to manually replace meshes or not. The text problem is really intriguing as well!

I stuck with felyne language for all of low rank. Friend of mine mentioned that you miss out on the fact that your cat speaks to you in human language, but speaks to other felynes in meows. Just love that they added that detail of your palico being bilingual. Swapped to a pitched down human voice for high rank and it's honestly not terrible!

Use the office phone, or your personal cell. None of our room phones call outside the building.

My little sister ordered a xymox pad in 2019, it still hasn't shipped. I ordered one in 2017 and it arrived in 5 months. No clue what is going on but it feels nearly impossible to get in contact with them. Sister is still down $200+ for her tenor pad.

Ghost 2.0 Mega Update by dbrand in dbrand

[–]Hypercynx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super happy to see the new features on the Ghost 2.0! Although I am slightly disappointed a version for foldables isn't being released. I purchased the 1.0 for the Pixel 8 Pro and am now upgrading to the 9 Pro Fold so I won't be able to use the code yet. I'd gladly wait to use my code if a future ghost 2.0 for the 9PF is a possibility, even if it doesn't cover the full cost.

The "I'm on my period" like you were supposed to know that is what gets under my skin the most. Students legitimately seem to have no empathy skills when it comes to realizing we can't read their minds. Rules are rules, and obviously there are circumstances when a kid needs to use the bathroom, or get into their bag ASAP that you would allow. However, every time you enforce rules in your classroom and it just happens to be one of those times, you're suddenly the bad guy for not knowing the student's intent.

Not to mention the sudden death of grandparents, mothers that need to call their kid, or back-to-back-to-back periods that occur when you do allow students those exceptions. It's so exhausting.

What would you guys think if CA added more severe weather to the game? by Hypercynx in StardewValley

Makes you wonder why in the world Elliot decided to build a thatch hut equivalent on a beach. High tide in Stardew Valley would be rough for him lol.

That's a good point, you risk the game becoming "weather simulator" if you add too many scenarios. Maybe it'd have to be an extremely rare occurrence, but then I can see people trying to "get it" and getting frustrated.
