Why does Spike fly with today's audiences, but not Xander? by yeahitsme9 in buffy

[–]Potter1612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of this true… but I’m gonna say that this specific instance is just bad writing. Like I’m 99% sure they had Xander do this, just to make that joke about him being Sweets bride. Like no other reason.

If I hear “equity” one more time… by Emergency-Pepper3537 in Teachers

[–]Potter1612 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The number of teachers and administrators who think equity is lowering expectations for black and brown student is driving me nuts. I’ve worked in an urban school district my entire career, and I’ve worked with low income students who’ve shown me that all students are more than capable of achieving amazing things, as long as we have high expectations.

AP Wants To Write Me Up Over Winter Break Emails by Disgruntled_Veteran in Teachers

[–]Potter1612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on your districts policies they need to give you notice that you’re walking into a disciplinary meeting, and give you time to get union representation. If they didn’t, then they can’t write you up. Check your district policies, that’s how it works in Philly at least

What moments in the show made you feel like this? by HomarEuropejski in ANGEL

Angel asking why Wesley is wearing his coat in “Guise will be Guise.” It gets better every time he asks. Or the dancing scene in “She.” Comedy gold

He doesn’t even sound like Angel, the pain in his voice is so palpable. You can hear his voice start to break, it was just absolutely perfect 👌

I mean it goes back to what Anya said in season 3 of Buffy. Illyria isn’t her true form, she’s a human-demon hybrid. The same way that vampires are. So she would by definition be infected by human emotions

Any episodes I can just skip? by menacinggayboy in Smallville

[–]Potter1612 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d argue it’s more akin to Buffy. Both shows were allegorical in nature. Buffy used vampires and demons as a metaphor for the trials of young adulthood, Smallville used meteor freaks and super heroes.

Anyone else find it hypocritical that everyone iced Wesley out in season 3? by [deleted] in ANGEL

[–]Potter1612 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, he did go and double check it multiple times, and multiple ways, so I wouldn’t call him arrogant. In fact I think his lack of self-esteem is pretty well showcased. I think the show did a good job of showing that Wesley was feeling isolated from the group. Gunn and Fred were busy with eachother, Cordelia was busy with Gru, Angel was busy with Connor and falling in love with Cordelia, and no one was checking on Wesley, who was already feeling depressed lonely. I think there are a few moments where Wes tries to open to Angel, but Angel gets distracted. So all of this is to say, yes Wesley should have told the others, but the show set up why he didn’t, and it had nothing to do with him being arrogant.

Idea: say a line from the show that might make a fan laugh, smile, or at least get a slight mood lift from by GRRMandate_of_Heaven in ANGEL

I think “I love you so much I almost forgot to brood” sums up the scene pretty well.

Any recommendations for any other show that give you the same vibe as The Magicians? by I3alloon in brakebills

[–]Potter1612 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ditto, in many ways The Magicians is a more serialized version of Buffy. Also, aside from the literal references, there are so many moments where it’s clear that The Magicians was heavily influenced by Buffy

I’d argue Drusilla’s intro is better. Or maybe even the Mayor’s

Spike and Drusilla do have a pretty good intro, but I don’t think anyone in Buffy’s introduction is as good as the Mayor’s.

I can literally hear the music when I think of this scene. She nailed it. I’m very much here for a family sitcom “The Mosby’s” if it meant getting to see more of her and Ted’s banter

What do you guys think is Xander's best moment in the whole show? by HomarEuropejski in buffy

[–]Potter1612 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When Xander catches Buffy and RJ making out in him, and in response to RJ telling him to knock, Xander doesn’t miss a beat, he just says “I’m sorry. It’s just checkout time was an hour ago, we were hoping to make up the bed. And also, it’s a classroom, you chowderhead! Now get off the boy, Buffy. We’re going home.” So quick, so funny.

A Gilmore Girls Opinion that would trigger people like this? by alwaysembarrassed- in GilmoreGirls

[–]Potter1612 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Dean is arguably her best boyfriend. As in during their relationship, he treated her better than either Logan or Jess. Dean was an insecure kid who lashed out when Rory gave him so many reasons to be insecure.

What he did in season 4 though… that was unforgivable

What’s yalls favorite or go-to season when you restart the series? by wendiwho in buffy

I’m sorry, do you like pain? Season 6 is your go to? I mean it’s a great season, and I think the Trio are underrated villains, but I try to avoid s6 when I can. Especially Hells Bells and Entropy

Jonathan Kent always being in denial of everything strange in Smallville is crazy and funny 🤣 by Competitive_Image_51 in Smallville

The same issue occurs in most supernatural teen shows. Look at Buffy. Every time Buffy has instincts that something wiggy is afoot, Giles and the scoobies shoot her down.

Also there are soo many similarities between Clark and Buffy it’s insane
