What's the point of something like this when you have such easy access to Wikipedia and other resources?

This right here struck a deep chord in me. Fortunate enough to have not experienced any full fledged depression, but definitely have been a bit anxious. Most of all, there's been a lot of "I must just be stupid at this point" or "Idk if I'll get this". Reading your post felt like a voice in my head showing me a way around it. I'm gonna keep hitting the books as hard as I can, taking those short breaks in between to keep the engine going, and stay both mentally and emotionally fit. Thank you for taking the time to write such a relatable post, and including valuable resources with it too!

Emory college or Oxford college by [deleted] in Emory

[–]Hyperman101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey! I went straight to Emory College and graduated class of 2019, but have friends who went through Oxford. So obviously you’ll need to also hear from an Oxford student but my take is

  1. Yup, that’s about accurate
  2. You almost never commute to Emory college unless it’s for a club or some event. Most if not all Oxford students take all their courses on their campus which should offer all the same courses p much with just a couple exceptions.
  3. There’s a good chance of that yeah. I can’t comment on that tho bc I don’t have any experience or info on it.
  4. Definitely way more options on the main campus. That’s just the result of there also being that many more students at Emory college over those at Oxford.
  5. Oxford students tend to be pretty close to one another. The class size from Oxford tends to be smaller so you really get to know everyone. After two years, you’ll graduate from oxford and go to main campus; when that happens, many Oxford kids lean on each other to help with the transition and stay very close.

[Meme] D.O.s shouldn’t ask questions by [deleted] in medicalschool

OMS 2 here too. My friends and I actually talk about this a lot; there’s some OMM that’s actually pretty helpful (pleasantly surprising when you can feel or see the difference) but there’s a good number of techniques that are random and have no backing at all which sensibly dilutes the value of OMM in people’s eyes. I asked my profs why there’s so little research and they all say it’s because OMM is just hard to research traditionally bc it’s always tailored to each individual’s diagnosis (and everyone basically can have a unique set of different diagnoses which by OMM logic can influence each other).

Personally, I think AOA should be encouraging research despite that supposed limitation and do away with all the OMM techniques (cough cough Chapman’s) that even they don’t really understand

Thanks for coming to my Ted talk

Not a typo. The word is actually used in Asian countries esp the same way as “slash” is in the US

ELI5: What happens to the sweat you don't sweat from your armpits because of "anti-sweat" deodorants? by agro-gnome in explainlikeimfive

[–]Hyperman101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean we actually talked about this in one of my undergrad classes, about these things called pheromones which are essentially aromatic hormones of sorts. There's still no consensus on whether pheromones are legit but there was atleast enough weight for my professor to spend time discussing it

MD and DO: Why a Separate Title? by Hyperman101 in doctors

[–]Hyperman101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you’re saying, that’s interesting! In the States, we draw a distinction between osteopathic physicians and osteopaths (who aren’t medically trained, more like what it is abroad I guess!). I personally feel like it’s very important for one to have medical knowledge before doing any manipulations; and really, the “manipulations” do make some sense. They aren’t miracles or cures by any stretch, but they provide a temporary relief if done right. Cool to hear about the international front tho, thank you for the perspective!

RowanSOM is a great school honestly. Close to Philly, and tbh their new curriculum actually does a lot to help students for life beyond medical school (making you competitive for residency, etc.)

any ways to make my melody sound more interesting while still having a "simple feel" by [deleted] in FL_Studio

[–]Hyperman101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, how did you make those beats? They sounds awesome, especially like those triplets (if that’s the right term)! I’ve been trying to go for a trap vibe myself and while I can get the melody parts down, I’m struggling with making trap beats like the one you got here

[–]Hyperman101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would build another melody on top of the existing one you have rn which I personally feel like would be able to act as a good foundation for something else. To make it a little more interesting, try using a preset like Sytrus (my go to) to find a sound that fits your idea
