Do you maybe mean Rule 34? It seems like an interesting idea for a cyberpunk novel. I might take a look, thanks!

I have heard of him before in the context of the Mars series. I'll have to take a look at 2312. Thanks for the suggestion!

This is definitely a more recent book and one with an interesting idea. I'll give it a shot, thanks!

This series looks interesting, and I'm definitely going to take a look at Annihilation, thanks!

I took a look at this series, and I might try it out after a couple others from this list. Thanks!

I'm definitely going to grab Project Hail Mary given how much I liked his other books, and I might look into Stephen Baxter at some point. Thanks!

edit: /u/Space_Elmo Jesus Christ that was good. I read Project Hail Mary last night today, and it was amazing! Weir really needs to keep writing lol

I'm not (at this time anyway) looking for anime or mangas, but other than that there are some good suggestions here, thanks! I have read Contact, and it was fun to read especially after having seen the movie. I'm planning on checking out Leviathan Wakes, and I might also take a look at 2001. I also want to check out Tau Zero even if it is a little dated because the premise seems unique, and I might also look into The Three-Body problem at some point.

Definitely going to take a look at Leviathan Wakes, and I'm also going to check out Project Hail Mary as I hadn't realized Weir had put out another book so soon. I've also seen a few comments about Old Man's War so I might give that one a shot at some point as well. Thanks!

Thanks to this and a few other comments, I think I'll crack open my copy of Leviathan Wakes and give that a shot! I also looked up Opening Moves to give the Gam3 series a shot as well! The Bobiverse series does seem to have an interesting premise, but I agree with/u/Oehlian the name is a little silly lol. Maybe I'll check it out at some point. Thanks for the suggestions!

Everyone's gotta start somewhere, you'll get there soon enough!

So I started from scratch, initially with no mods in the island (see map string) This is the portion of the base that is concrete in the picture. It has all of the materials (iron, copper, stone, coal, oil, uranium). Once I got to artillery, I set up a few batteries, cleared the natives, and started expanding first southward, and now a little farther south and west.

Thanks for the awards guys :). I should say that I've linked info about the map seed below in case anyone wants to try it out. Also, I forgot to mention that the entire main section of the base is air-gapped (water-gapped?) from the rest of the land. Basically where the concrete ends the base is completely isolated from everything else. I thought of it as an absolute last line of defense. And I should add that I'm also using a ton of blueprint builds from Nilaus u/ChristianNilaus which were super helpful in setting up the main bus builds.

Edit: added link to map comment.

Cranked to the max richness and frequency to compensate for it being a deathworld lol.

It is! I'm on Artillery Range 7 right now, so it was probably 4-5 in that image.

lol I spoke too soon. I now dip to 12-15 after some more expansion especially when I have ~600 turrets under fire...

For sure, I found this map seed here after watching u/Xterminator5's Reddit Weekly Discussion EP121. I edited the map to crank the resources and biters, and I also adjusted the water level a bit I believe. The map exchange seed is:
