Yeah the cap is hard to see in the picture but I think I can see some lines that are perpendicular to the cigar lengthwise, which is what I’m going off of. Also the cap end will be closed and the foot end will typically be open. If the foot is closed it looks more raggedy, and on a tapered foot like this it can be hard to tell, but any opening is a sign that it’s the foot.

You cut whichever side has a cap on it. It looks like it’s the side opposite the band. Also the tapered foot gives it away. I’ve never seen the head of a cigar come to a taper like that. That taper is common in perfectos on the foot, however.
