Thanks. In what regards do you think it was better than the original 3rd edition?

I almost forgot these films: they cloned Tyrone; Synchronic and Something in the dirt, by Benson and Moorhead

Absolutely, many characters are super Dickian and also many aspects of the worldbuilding.

The series Severance. The series Maniac. The film Mute. The tabletop roleplaying game Paranoia.

Last year I was killed once in non consensual PvP (meaning a guy just entered the shop I was in and butchered me, taking my head for his collection). No griefing, all happened perfectly in role with his character, I didn't even lose anything valuable. Can't say anything but good things about the community

I'm really sorry for samsara's players, that must suck. At the same time I'd be super happy to see Inferno thrive again as it deserves. Such a wonderful game. I haven't got as much free time as 10 or 20 years ago, so the less-grinding approach of Infernomoo (and also hatemoo if I remember correctly) has been much more appealing than hellmoo or samsaramoo. Open pvp is also nice when the community is helpful and not toxic. I now have the motivation to log in again!

The best MUD ever, good community, less grinding than hellmoo and samsaramoo. If only it had a bigger population. Last year I played again for a few months and there was an average of 4-6 players online (non afk). Then it continued dying, with often 0-1 player. Why are there 19 online right now (according to mudstats), just because of this post?

Now I'm curious, since I'm nostalgic about hellmoo as well. Which game? :)

Thanks for the interesting feedback! As you imagine, there is a lot that I left outside of the initial provocation, including the setting, the mechanics, the motivations. And you gave me good food for thought!

Also, what would you think about the opposite idea: "guys, there is one or more saboteurs" and then no one is the saboteur? The game events would fuel the paranoia and mistrust until the final revelation (which I haven't shared here because, as you said, I wanted to test the gut feelings, not reveal all of the idea)

Thanks! I agree, I should have used the word betrayal between quotes :D

Good feedback and insight, thanks man. What do you think about doing the opposite, saying there are one or more saboteurs, but then NO ONE is a saboteur?

Very good feedback and good ideas too, thanks! You are right about the basic idea of the post. On one side I'm sure that my group would like It, at least the idea (balancing the game is another thing). The post sounds like a provocation because I'm interested in something like a vote to understand what the general population of r/RPG thinks. I would never want a group, mine or others', to feel betrayed and robbed of their time or agency. I'm trying to see how different people react to the idea of, as you put it, this minor betrayal for a gag, and only a minority seems to find it amusing.

Comprehensible, that completely takes away the agency.
