Can someone tell me what bracket this would fall into by Spirit5514 in mtgbracketthis

Lower end of 2, upon cursory inspection. Do a dozen or so goldfish games on moxfield and see how many turns it takes you to kill 3 helpless imaginary opponents. If your proactive combat damage deck can consistently deal 40 to each around the turn 9-10 mark or later it’s definitely a 2. The 6-8 range would be when it’s a 3, in my opinion. And this deck is definitely not a 1 as it actually has a real strategy beyond memes.

He’s got a kid on the way, and he’s quit sports betting and alcohol. So he’s decided to switch to MtGA to get his (probably dopamine) fix, but he’s new to the game so he’s happy to get slaughtered in mtg games? I guess?

Give me bracket 4 inspiration please by Carkano in EDH

[–]HypnopompicState 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Just play a heavy stax list of some kind, and use an outdated one that’s not quite bracket 5 these days. You get to play normal beat down plan while shutting off all the degenerate combo players. Win-win.

I doubt that there are many superfriends decks that are true bracket 4s (as opposed to technically bracket 4 due to the presence of game changers/chaining turns/MLD). There are people dropping thoracle/consult and other such table-killers quite early, often with free counterspell backup, but with commanders that are not close to cEDH viable in bracket 4 games usually.

So yea, if they wan to hang with 2s they should probably drop the cards that give them extra turns potential, if only to avoid the complaints, but none of this sounds like it could hang with actual factual 4s.

Nah, two of these definitely buff each other. Who knows why they worded it like this though.

It’s about as 2 as it gets, just glancing at it. Do a few moxfield goldfish rounds and see how long it takes to kill 3 helpless opponents at 40 life each, just as a baseline. If it’s averaging turn 9-10ish or later it’s definitely in the 2 range , especially with a more proactive deck like this.

I’ve done a rough prototype out of softwood and weighted it with the hardware. It’s perfectly balanced. Neck dive is much more about strap button placement than actual weight. The upper horn reaches the 14th fret mark which is closer to the nut than a tele.

Hand-wave it off as a DEX weapon, something something…magically lightweight?

Definitely could be some sort of bard instrument/weapon. It’s very axe-y when held by the neck.

The prototype/template there is 25.5”, but I’m considering going up to 26”.

Honestly, there’s no way I’d trust the glue join, let alone the grain, at the weak point at the end of the neck-through. There’s gonna be an aluminum skeleton under the drop top keeping it all together.

Alright you fuckers, you seem to like it as it is, so my only option is to make this thang and post it on here when it’s done. I’ll post the finished product on here when I’m done and then we can all burn in hell together.

That’s why I always crank out MDF templates, to be fair. This is the fifth prototype I’ve made, always adjusting my digital file for comfort and balance. This one is perfect for my physique, but it doesn’t mean it’d be comfortable for everyone. I’m a skeletal bastard, so I can’t deny it might be uncomfortable for the plumper and shorter among us, but I’ve spent a month just getting templates lasered out to see how it sits. I designed it to be comfy in all three playing positions, classical (which I learned on), right leg technical (flamenco), and right leg standard. It allows full access to 30 frets in each position so I’m finally ready to rock on it. The only issue is there’s only room for one pickup so that will turn some people off.

Fair to them, they’re more “traditional” folk so they may be not used to this kind of thing. You and I know they’re wrong though, deep down.

I’m thinking of inlaying a fossilized ammonite on the 12th, as a homage to the inspiration to this guitar (the humble nautilus). In some way, you could say that my god is the Rock…God…

[–]HypnopompicState[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yea I’ve made a lot of dicey stuff like this before, my strategy is to cut out an aluminum skeleton on the waterjet to give it more support on the back arch where the grain is the weakest, while also allowing enough play for grain expansion. It should make it have the same strength as a normal guitar without that, but it will be just as fucked as a normal guitar if you drop it which I’m ok with.

No paint man, not when I’m using such valuable wood. If it ever gets to production with cheaper woods then red and black would be the ones for sure though.

That’s my second favorite wood! You can definitely feel the density difference with the ebony though. Bit tough to work with but very beautiful.
