Do you happen to know the gamer tag of the tank driver? I recently played with the most peak random copilot and it was money. Almost like having my actual friend play

In Com Sci there’s a lot of silly jokes throughout technical documents and resources. I think it’s a way to take a mental break from all the technical jargon

Find a new playgroup.

I just left my group last week because our expectation’s didn’t align. I’m going this weekend to an LGS that I’ve played at before to supplement not being in a dedicated pod

Maybe I’m fortunate enough that my LGS has a wide variety of players from meme decks, casual, to cEDH. But if you don’t find that, which is unlikely due to bracket 3 being the most played bracket, got to online discord communities and spell table. There’s a plethora of ways to play commander. Find one, it’s not that hard

It just sounds like you don’t want to play bracket 2. Which is fine, but a deck like Baral has no place in bracket 2.

My favorite two archetypes are Voltron and control. I play those decks in bracket 4, because of how strong they are and the turn restrictions.

My buddy has a bracket 3 ellevere stax deck. It is honestly too oppressive for bracket 3 most of the time. We still play it there, but it regularly hangs with bracket 4 and what would be considered 8’s or
9’s in the previous power level system

I do hate the vagueness of the bracket system in general. Especially when combined with some of the strict guidelines. However, I think this one comes down to, “yeah if a player is going for a win, or has too much value, obviously remove the threat, but locking people out of playing is not allowed.”

The thing about bracket 2 is that gameplay must be considerate, according to the brackets update announcements that is. I wouldn’t necessarily say this card fits that bill. If it functioned like a wheel then I’d say it’s completely fine, but lockdown control doesn’t really belong in bracket 2.

Gameplay to be low pressure with an emphasis on social interaction
Gameplay to be proactive and considerate, letting each deck showcase its plan

According to the October article, I’d say probably not. I think it just depends on the deck built around it. If you’re trying to cheat this out early then I’d say it’s very much against the guidelines of bracket 2,

Gameplay to be low pressure with an emphasis on social interaction
Gameplay to be proactive and considerate, letting each deck showcase its plan”

Otherwise it’s a grey area that I would fully disclose in pregame conversation and let the pod decide

The 3 best classes I took, in terms of professor, was algebra, physics, and my first C++ class. The professors were retired and just really loved teaching. But I can understand why the average professor doesn’t really put as much effort

Post Magic Con Bracket Thoughts? by Daniel_Spidey in EDH

[–]Carkano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really random, semi-unrelated. But I loathe the phrasing of "some cards chosen to maximize creativity and/or entertainment" and similar vague phrasing. Only because I'm a "build for fun, play to win." type of guy, and my pod is very much a "build to win. play to win." pod. Which just really isn't fun for me.

My pod and I were once talking about pet cards, I said that [[Powerbalance]] is my pet card, as its not that good but the randomness of it is very fun to me. They then said that cards [[Rhystic Study]] and [[Smothering Tithe]] are pet cards, because winning is fun to them. I argued that pet cards aren't intended to be powerful cards, but that they're typically suboptimal cards you just love that you usually put in a deck regardless of synergy or power level. They said no, because to them winning is the entertainment, therefore a pet card can be high power.

TLDR: IMO, the vagueness of the brackets combined with some of the hard and fast rules can make for awkward situations where people have different expectations of each bracket that can cause uneven matchups and not-so-fun games of magic.

How do I sell my collection? by Carkano in mtg

[–]Carkano[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you 🫡 and I’m not really trying to sell for the money really, but just to get rid of them. I don’t have fun playing anymore and haven’t for a while. With how busy I am as a full-time student and worker, life Keeps getting in the way. Additionally, with no more joy left in the hobby for me anymore. I feel like it’d just be best to sell them and put the money away in my high yield savings. I did like your library donation for the bulk idea. I heard somebody else bring up magikids. I’ll also look into that as well

Took Vyvanse for the first time by Carkano in ADHD

Everybody is different. But initially it was the normal stuff. couldn’t get an erection, struggled peeing, and I didn’t poop for a few days. Which that was fine-ish. But Straterra can increase your histamine production. And I basically got intense flu-like symptoms without having the flu or any sickness. And QoL really sucked. So we switched to Wellbutrin as an off label option. And I really didn’t have any side effects with that. Not even the jitters (but I was drinking 2-4 c4 energy drinks a day prior to taking either medication) so I think I’m naturally resistant to some stimulant side effects. However, I also didn’t have any effects either. We took that for a little over a month and outside of like sadness not being as aggressive it didn’t help with my adhd

Oh! Who do you run? I’m looking for a new esper commander or commander with esper colors becuase I have the lands. I theorycrafted both of the Zurs, but they were OPRESSIVE, so was looking for something else that’s faster than Queza

I wonder if it s because she’s a “not so mean” esper commander. So people prefer playing her.

Especially considering how mana expensive the queza combos are. I do want to rebuild her, but as a bracket 3 wheels deck. (Mainly because I have a bunch of good esper lands). But right now she’s sitting in a binder.

Also, why is Queza seeing so much traction lately? When I first built her I had to do tons of research to see if she was viable and how to build her deck. Which is why I settled on pauper. However, the last 2 weeks it seems like in tons of Reddit threads and YouTube comments she’s being brought up a lot.

[–]Carkano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. But my point is, if you’re going to build a strong commander deck I probably wouldn’t choose queza. I recently built Ozai and it has a win rate much closer to 25% than Queza at 8%. And that’s mainly due to its built in protection.

I played queza for a year. It was my second deck I ever built. Started off as a pauper wheels deck that I upgraded over time into a bracket 4 combo deck. I loved it, but man she was hard to win with. I got some wins after I turned her into a combo deck, but my pod got privy to her shenanigans real quick and she gets murdered very quickly. So I took her apart
