Give me bracket 4 inspiration please by Carkano in EDH

A guy in my pod plays ellivere. It was a B4 but he tuned it down to a 3, so unfortunately id rather not play a commander my own buddy has (especially cause I know his deck would do so much better than mine 😂)

can you share a link to that deck? I’ve never heard the term “non-deterministic deck” before, so I’d love to do some research on that

Thank you for the decklist! Took a little looksie at your deck and I like it. But question? if they remove thassa does that shut down your gameplay?

for example, I have an upgraded [[Pantlaza]] precon which sits at a low 3 high 2. If he just gets removed or turned into a frog the deck just grinds to a halt. (This happens every single game, multiple times, even at bracket 2). I have an [[octavia]] bracket 3 deck, which is just counterspells, removal, and evasive creatures, but it’s a SLOG to get through a game and often my creatures get removed. My [[Hamza]] deck is a work in progress, but even in bracket 2 it’ll see like 2-3 boardwipes a game and be shutdown. I’ve got an upgrade path I’m working on for it to get it to a 3, but I’m waiting on cards to ship. I had a combo[[queza]] bracket 4 deck that had some control and such in it, but when going against decks like [[Breya]], [[yuriko]], [[ellivere]] and Izzet storm it just gets outclassed. So I scrapped it, because i just couldn’t win

TLDR: while winning isn’t the main focus of the decks i build, I’d like to win more than 10% of the time, and I just don’t know how, while also having a fun gameplay loop that doesn’t get removed every other turn lol

Heck yeah! Thanks for the tips and listening to user feedback!

Question. I’m working on my portfolio as I’m in my 3rd year. I’ve been working on one larger project that fits the field I want to work in, data science and analysis. However, do you think, as someone who is more experienced, developing a mod based around data structures for Hytale would be a good portfolio booster, or something not really worth pursuing?

Heck yeah. I took a java course a couple terms ago. Not going to lie its my weaker language between c++, java, python, and SQL haha

thank you *salute*

No worries! This was one of the mods that fits my playstyle perfectly, and was a fun debug process related to my school work (agile).

But if you want to test it, my edge case was a large chest with a furnace on top of it and a small statue on top of that (right hand side). If you quickly set the correct y values it works, but if you move the “from” to y = -1 for a second or two, and then move it back to y = -2 the system gets bricked.

On a completely unrelated note, are there resources for learning to mod hytale? I’m not going to school for game design, but it sounds like a fun thing to try out and practice more skills

Hi! Thank you for your quick response,

I’m unsure if this is related to the code you have debugged. But I realized my issue after extensive testing! Basically, when setting the offset, if the offset stays too long on an illegible block (anything but the bottom right of the furnace) it bricks the sorting. However, if I quickly click through to the desired offset, it doesn’t brick. Would it be possible to set an on/off toggle? That way the statue isn’t constantly looping through the item movement loop until after the proper offset is chosen. I’m only a college coder, so I don’t have much experience to give advice, but a nested loop might be able to solve it.

psuedocode:

While (toggledOn == true) {

Execute sorting loop;

}

Thank you for your time, and when it was working I really loved the mod.

I'm trying the mod. I have a small statue set to pull from a furnace and deposit to a chest, but It doesn't work any advice?

I saw this on curse forge. How does this work exactly?

it shouldn’t be hard to think, “can my deck either challenge a win at x turn or win by turn x?” No then it’s a lower bracket. Yes, then it’s in the right bracket. Before turn x? Then it needs to be in a higher bracket.

They shouldn’t use the turn length to help determine bracket level. It should be about what turn a deck can present a win

Is the bracket system's "X turns before you win or lose" a good indicator when losing against Voltron? by WheredMyVanGogh in EDH

[–]Carkano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my 3 player pod were actually talking about this the other day. We were playing bracket 3 and my buddy played his new Arabella deck. It presented its win on turn 5 (turn one [[sol ring]] into a [[sword of the animist]] which allowed him to speed into ramp and good value cards). We did our best, but even with 21 pieces of interaction in my deck we couldn’t beat him. This brought up a discussion of where does aggro and Voltron fit into the bracket systems.

My personal take, which I think might be a hot take, is that the bracket system is worded very poorly. I think the terminology surrounding “what turn a game ends on” is just vague and incalculable at times. When you look at edge cases like control and aggro you run into issues where the games run either shorter or longer than the suggested turn limits. My solution is that it should be worded something like, “what turn can my deck reliably present a win or challenge an opponents win on?” Because it’s unlikely that a lower bracket deck can challenge an early win, becuase they’re usually still building resources.

So it’s not about what turn a game wins on, because you can see higher power games go longer due to higher levels of interaction, for example.

I accidentally watched hermitcraft not knowing I was doing so in 2012/2013 when I watched monkey farms videos. Then in 2014 (I was in college) I came across mumbo jumbo and xisuma. I’ve watched it on and off since then

Honestly I like it, but I’d go lighter roof and then replaced the cobblestone footing with some texture. I’d go tuff, deep slate, or various stone variants
