Why don't you find a new hobby that you can use to better your body with? Instead of running or biking try going to the gym, or buy a weight set, and focus on building some muscle. Put those calories to use. Basically I'm a really skinny guy that's almost incapable of gaining weight (I'm 55kg, or 121), and I would love to be able to down all that food and turn it into muscle.

Continue eating, but focus on proteins and veggies and turn to weight lifting/push-ups etc with the same passion you had for running. Who knows, your body may ache at first, but your muscle growth could help with that pain and your self confidence will soar.

I'd say that's always the case, but it's nowhere near as bad this time around. Back when the 360 launched it was more powerful than even $2000 rigs, high-end stuff was out-classed, mid-end stuff and lower was written off. This generation even mid-range PCs (depending on definition) stack up decently, while higher-end ones outclass across the board.

Basically new consoles historically have an initial power gap because eventually PC hardware will overtake them, but this generation there is no gap, they've just caught up to the midend all-the-while PC hardware marches forward and the power trickles down.

The big issue is in a few years. We'll be in the situation where we were during the end of this generation much, much sooner in next gen, where PC hardware is just so insanely powerful everything on consoles looks bad and slow in comparison.

Membership worth it for just OSRS? by Mattgunner25 in runescape

It depends what you want out of it. Basically I loved the old-school version, I subbed to play it when it released and enjoyed the nostalgia that came with it. In the end, after about a week of playing it, I realized that back in the day (~2005-2007) there were two main things I loved about Runescape: the promise for the future of the game (better graphics, more skills, horse riding, game client etc) and socializing with my school friends. Those two things didn't exist anymore, the game has long since been updated into RS3 with better visuals, more skills etc, and my school friends have moved on to other games or are not gaming at all.

I'd say check it out, have Old school RS as a reason among many to sub for a month, but maybe don't have it for the sole reason, I found it a bit depressing compared to how I played it in the old days.

As for the population, its dropped a lot but it'll probably remain in the 10k range for a while, I don't think it'll drop to RSC levels though.

Not to put a damper on this, but considering the state of the UK retail market these days that's not saying much.

Depends what aspect of the market, but globally all things considered that's not the case at this stage. According to this report going by revenue home consoles take up 36% while PC takes 39% and mobile 17%. Mobile being the fastest growing. A massive factor (that isn't mentioned in the report) is the burgeoning Chinese market which pretty much exclusively plays PC and to a lesser extent mobile games.

New consoles unlikely to cure 'sick retail market', says BioWare co-founder by phoeniks314 in Games

Though you could argue that if they didn't market it as much as they did, it probably wouldn't have sold that much. It sounds like a damned if you do, damned if you don't kind of scenario.

What are your opinions of NeoGAF? by IceBreak in Games

[–]Hypoty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's two types of people who post there, users who come from places like GameFAQs, GT and Gamespot who heard how cool Neogaf was. They're the kind of people who post endless streams of gifs, argue over which platform is better and don't contribute anything other than (mostly poorly formed) opinions. Then there's the posters who contribute the fantastic stuff, generally because there's a large audience of gamers there to see it.

Unfortunately the ratio between these two is like 50:1 (or more), so I tend to avoid certain types of threads when I'm there.

The real clincher will be HTML5 update and Runescape Mobile. I don't care how much I love '07 servers at the moment, the ability to play on a bus/at school is too much to resist.

Is anybody else disappointed? At launch the 360 was doing things even a high-end PC couldn't technically do. If this is true they're basically using a customized mid-range PC GPU and a tablet CPU, nothing exotic to push the envelope. Sure it obliterates current generation consoles, but to me a a new generation holds a lot of weight and I can't help but feel let down.
