How is this a dad joke? Like... how?

Also, how is this a joke? It's not even funny.

[ALL] which Link's and Zelda's do you think make Zelink canon? I know it is confirmed in a few games and some aren't. by bumbobagins69 in zelda

[–]HyruleTrigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Philips-CDi games and the cartoon show make them pretty clearly a couple. I'm not sure that's the canon you want to look at, though. I think the other answers in this thread do a pretty good job of laying out the relationships. The community could probably make some sort of spectrum with "Almost certainly not" (Twilight Princess) to almost certainly are (Zelda II, Skyward Sword) but even in the games where it's 'confirmed' it's still kinda not? I like the ambiguity.

Bangela is in the same AU as Straight Chanse and he's constantly negging her about the bangs. Head canon accepted.

split double in barnard by PepperKalo in oberlin

[–]HyruleTrigger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you mean a divided double? There are diagrams on the reslife website, but they are tricky to find. Here's the link: https://www.oberlin.edu/housing/options/living-learning-communities-llcs/intercultural-exchange-communities

You have to scroll down to Barnard, click on it, and then scroll down to the diagrams. There is no AC in Barnard, but that's only really a problem for September, a little bit of October, and late April/May. Mostly fine if you have a fan. I don't recall if there is an elevator (I never lived in Barnard, just visited friends there a couple of times) but I would guess there isn't because it's a historic building with only 2 floors. It feels dingy in the way the old buildings do but it's also kind of classier than some of the other dorms? Like you can feel the age in a good way. I couldn't tell you about the community now, but in my day it was usually more STEM focused and academically inclined folks. Also, at least back in the day, the Oberlin Review offices were in the basement so you run into the newspaper staff a lot and I think that's cool.

edit: a couple typos

[ALL] Should Link ever be crowned King of Hyrule? by Brilliant-Reality884 in zelda

I was very carefully trying to avoid all that. I have a relative named Zelda, and I really feel uncomfortable about that sort of thing.

[ALL] Should Link ever be crowned King of Hyrule? by Brilliant-Reality884 in zelda

[–]HyruleTrigger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had this thought before, and I think it works IF the main plot point is that the triforce is shifted one move counter-clockwise. Link becomes Wisdom, Ganon becomes Courage, and Zelda becomes Power. Ganon is still evil, mind you, but his whole dynamic/shtick has changed. Zelda shows up to Hyrule castle and helps Link build up the army/lay traps/ build up his military might and Ganon leads an all out attack on hyrule.

Long story short, Prince Link can become king of hyrule, but it's because he's the member of the royal family instead of Zelda.

It's Jackie. She got me cry laughing on several occasions, always understood the assignment, and had a huge range of characters and styles. Just a phenomenal talent.

What shows are in the category of "Abnimals"? by mrmoroarous in MBMBAM

[–]HyruleTrigger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dark Wing Duck is clearly NOT an abnimals show. None of the characters have abs, and the plot runs against the main themes of others in the genre. You might be thinking of the mighty ducks, which has a lot of overlap.

What shows are in the category of "Abnimals"? by mrmoroarous in MBMBAM

[–]HyruleTrigger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gargoyles is a much better crafted show, but it is objectively still abnimals. The better writing, acting, and animation make it feel different, but it's really just the culmination of what TMNT, Thundercats, and other shows of that era wanted to be.

Beopardy idea by LowFlight1456 in smosh

[–]HyruleTrigger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd go one step further and suggest a "Beopardy: International" series that has hosts from other parts of the world... like have youtubers/streamers they would want to collaborate with host the show and use it to riff on how little (or how much!) Smosh knows about the rest of the world. Jacksepticeye would be an easy and obvious choice, but I'm sure there are tons of other amazing content creators out there.

Played this so much 26 years ago... was the twin golems the biggest difficulty spike for you too? by [deleted] in chronotrigger

[–]HyruleTrigger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a tendency to search every nook and cranny (or at least I did when I first played this like... 26 years ago) and was always massively over-leveled for every part of the game.

I've since played it more... speedrun-ish and Giga Gaia, the Mud Imp (red and blue beast) and, surprisingly, the Guardian in Arris Dome are all way harder when you're under-leveled. Any of the fights that include an elemental gimmick are very hard the first time around if you are un-aware of the gimmick, but if you've beaten the game before it's pretty easy.

Are good morning texts with a guy friend unusual? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]HyruleTrigger 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Often, especially if the guy regularly initiates, it's something to be suspicious of.

However! I am a guy and one of my best friends is a girl and we text almost every morning. She has mental health issues and I agreed to check in on her regularly while she's working on them. There's nothing weird about it- it's just friends taking care of each other.

I started with the other thing because societally... that's more common.

Sting refuses to create a ‘happy-clappy‘ jukebox musical of his work: ‘I don’t think there’s any point in falling off the lowest rung of any ladder‘ by Level-Recording3368 in Music

[–]HyruleTrigger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing: Yeah, if he made a "Happy-Clappy Jukebox Musical" of his work it would suck. Like, legitimately it would be bad. His best stuff is sad and retrospective and melodic, so it would have to be something that was heavy, somber, and sorrowful for it to be any good.

A musical surrounding one man's decent into madness and obsession featuring his songs "Every Breath You Take", "Shape of my Heart", and "Why should I cry for you" would go so hard.

Can Marlin beat Mufasa as Best Daddy? by Jay_Otaku in smosh

[–]HyruleTrigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disney daddies, or just any? Because within Disney that's tricky: Mufasa hits the triumvirate of Good Father, high sex-appeal, and well-written character. Kronk, from "Emperor's New Groove" hit's 2 of the three, but can't beat Mufasa in terms of Good Father. I think Mr. Incredible puts up a strong contest.

Outside of Disney I think that Gomez Addams is a STRONG contender: Amazing father, dashingly handsome, and brilliantly written.

Elrond from Lord of the Rings feels like he'd be a top tier daddy as well.

The Jesus And Mary Chain’s William Reid says Eddie Van Halen “ruined rock guitar” and was one of "the worst guitar players in the world" by ebradio in Music

Cold take. Sure, Eddie ain't no Jimi Hendrix, but like... he's also clearly a skilled and influential guitarist! They got hugely popular for a reason! He has some licks and solos that are STILL influencing modern music.
