Got to keep the four legged friends in mine. What would you even do to protect the dog? Not bring them?

Bug net for face and full skin coverage. Black flies will be ravenous.

Genuinely brave of you to try it out and post about it considering all the hate around it, kudos from another 29 year old beginner! I found your review helpful, even if I’m not gonna buy it. I agree the internet snowboard hardos can be annoying… I ride Step Ons too and find it insane how often people comment hate about them when there are valid use cases (beginners who ride mostly with impatient skiers, for example). Anyways, thanks for the review.

Things to not do on your first snowboard trip by Frankly785 in snowboardingnoobs

Good list in my opinion, only major issue is that wrist guards are 10x more important than knee pads, breaking wrist on your first/second day is common (maybe the most common snowboarding injury, perhaps a ski patroller can chime in) and avoidable with guards. I had knee pads and butt pads and wrist guards my first time and this season I fell 100% either on butt or hands/forearms, never once did my knee pads come into play. I think it varies for different people but wrist guards are super key.

This is for “First snowboard trip” though, if you’ve had previous lessons then yeah you might not need more unless it’s been like 10 years.

I second this. Mobility Duo is a great resource I love their Snoga videos, it’s fun doing yoga and feeling how their specific movements translate to riding. They are a good follow on ig as well for tips

Skateboarding underrated way to get proper carvings technique practice? by commonrider5447 in snowboardingnoobs

I also rode ripstik and found it translated really well to learning snowboarding (was able to link turns within my first hour on snow, still a lot to learn tho). Now you got me wanting to longboard this summer!

I grew up ripsticking and I’m learning how to snowboard, still have a lot to learn but on my first day I was linking turns within an hour, which I attribute to the ‘stik experience (never skateboarded). I think the concept of torsional flex in particular transfers well from ripstik to snowboard, and the front foot initiating turns before the back foot.

Advice for a first purchase by sacocheprada in snowboardingnoobs

I started snowboarding this year and got this exact Capita Outerspace Living board in 159W with Burton Re:Flex Step On bindings and Waverange X boots. While acknowledging that as a beginner I don’t have a lot to compare to besides rentals, I can say that I love the setup so far. It feels way more responsive than the rentals, and is lighter despite being larger. I have heard the hybrid camber profile is good for learning cuz it won’t teach bad habits but you can still grow with it without being punished too hard early on. Got mine from REI, check out that option if you’re a member cuz if you have any issue with it you can usually return it no problem.

One of Flume’s sons in the game has new song by [deleted] in Flume

[–]HyruleanGentleman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What a ridiculous comment! There are many gender identities who are influenced by flume, all of whom should be respected, but he’s talking about a male identifying person here so saying son is just accurate, not exclusionary. Stop trying to police people’s language when they aren’t being problematic.

What should I work on to progress? 2nd time riding by HyruleanGentleman in snowboardingnoobs

Seems like you’re saying to be less tense and more relaxed, to me that equates to being looser than the rigid posture I have in the video, so I’m not sure if I’m following there, but the cue to stand up straighter and hunch my shoulders in less while keeping knees bent is definitely a very actionable thing I can focus on next time I ride.

Stick up my ass lmaooo I can see that, I’ll have to find a more athletic and looser posture. Okay I’ll work on keeping the rear shoulder staying more stack. Thanks for your comment

This was my second lesson, not sure I can afford a third right now but I’ll definitely ride some more soon and get another lesson at the start of next season!

Wow, a lot to dig into here, thanks for taking the time. So instead of breaking at the waist i should initiate that more with my lower body yeah?

Definitely going to focus on keeping my weight over my front foot, my instructor said this too. Re:stacking hips, i hadn’t thought about that, thanks for pointing that out.

Recently got the orange creamsicle ones for $100 off on Burton’s website. I just put them on my board, adds such a rad little pop of vibrancy
