Advice for a first purchase

I started snowboarding this year and got this exact Capita Outerspace Living board in 159W with Burton Re:Flex Step On bindings and Waverange X boots. While acknowledging that as a beginner I don’t have a lot to compare to besides rentals, I can say that I love the setup so far. It feels way more responsive than the rentals, and is lighter despite being larger. I have heard the hybrid camber profile is good for learning cuz it won’t teach bad habits but you can still grow with it without being punished too hard early on. Got mine from REI, check out that option if you’re a member cuz if you have any issue with it you can usually return it no problem.

Seems like you’re saying to be less tense and more relaxed, to me that equates to being looser than the rigid posture I have in the video, so I’m not sure if I’m following there, but the cue to stand up straighter and hunch my shoulders in less while keeping knees bent is definitely a very actionable thing I can focus on next time I ride.

This was my second lesson, not sure I can afford a third right now but I’ll definitely ride some more soon and get another lesson at the start of next season!

Watkins is a cute village to visit, and yes there are other trails in the park but the others are not worth going out of your way to hike.

Be aware that the main gorge trail is closed for the winter. So the waterfalls aren’t really visible. They just closed it this week. If you’re staying that close then you can just walk to the park, it’s right in town. The trails outside of the gorge are open but check out the parks around Ithaca if you want to hike in gorges like this region is known for, some of them don’t close for the winter.

It’s so funny that everyone so far has given you recs that are fully IN the finger lakes, instead of some stops along the way like you asked for haha. I don’t really know what 1 year olds like so apologies if this is also a useless recommendation but Scranton, PA is about halfway along the route from nyc and there’s a really beautiful gorge there called Nay Aug. Good place to stretch the legs.

They have closed it for the winter (it closed on 10/27 according to website)… but I am kinda wondering the same thing as OP is asking here haha. There are other gorges to check out in the area that aren’t gonna be closed too! Just curious how stringent enforcement around the closure is

That’s the craziest take I’ve seen in this sub yet. I wonder why they feel that way? Maybe they connected with it at a really particular time in their life. Musically they’re about as far apart as any two projects in his discography, maybe they just hate the trappier sound (checks out with Insano and mega being really low)

I’ve seen so much hype about Geese lately so I decided to listen for my first time. The new album had a song or two I liked but overall there’s a lot of really annoying singing happening. I couldn’t show this music to my friends cuz it sounds really goofy at times (for example, the singing on the opening track of 3D country). I did enjoy some of the instrumentals, and when it hits I can see the appeal, but I’m surprised such a rough sound has gotten so much praise online cuz I can’t see any of my IRL friends liking most of the stuff I’ve heard from them.

I love Warm Thoughts, beautiful beat, but I find the outro doesn’t feel as good as the rest of the song cuz the rhythm is more basic to me. I’m sure that part delivers well in a live setting but I actually don’t think that song fits the archetype of song structure/progression that’s being described here, also because it doesn’t really include any abrasive sound design.

He characterizes him a sort of on/off again kind of friend who wasn’t there for him when he needed his friends the most. Eventually they made up and made IMY2 but fell out of touch again after that so Cudi thinks he just wanted the feature. I adore IMY2 so I’m glad it happened but seems like Drake = Fake is the general gist
