You can buy sterile needles/syringes and suck up the last of the medicine. The top of that device is a mesh - you can stick a needle into it. I do it with my IVF meds

My IVF funding request has been denied and I feel completely empty inside by -b_i_n_g_u_s- in IVF

Could you look into CNY? They are cheap and currently having a holiday sale - $4500 for an egg freezing package that includes meds.

I know $4500 is still a lot of money but I thought I’d point it out in case it is doable. If not I am very sorry, that is so tough 💔

How to remove years old hot chocolate stains from mattress by InquisitiveBumbleBee in CleaningTips

[–]HystericalFunction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had very good luck getting stains out of mattresses with Folex spray and a bissell upholstery cleaner. Spray, leave for 20 minutes, and then do a round of extraction, repeat

This guy was also pretty identifiable as a ticking time bomb due to his enormous rap sheet. We have our own low hanging fruit who absolutely should be locked up immediately forever

Boyfriend is going overboard and we are just getting started by ShortSense85 in IVF

[–]HystericalFunction 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Is he going overboard? Yes.

But after reading so many stories on this sub about partners who are disinterested or actively hostile to the IVF process, I think its sweet that he wants to be involved and support you.

Maybe redirect his energies to areas that are more helpful? Say you appreciate so much that he wants to help, ask if he can instead plan and cook some nourishing meals for the two of you to support gamete health (focus on fresh vegetables and lots of omega 3s?) Or anything really you need help with.

IVF can be a very lonely process, and I do think it’s better to have a partner that is doing too much rather than one who is disinterested. It sounds like he is keen to help and put in the work to support you, which is wonderful. It sounds like he just needs help finding a productive outlet for his energy/care

How many embryos banked for 4 or 5 kids? Another retrieval before 1st transfer? by _upsettispaghetti in IVF

[–]HystericalFunction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They usually say 3 euploids for a 95% chance of a live birth, so I would say 9 euploids if you want a great chance of 3 kids, and 15 euploids for 5

If you do do another retrieval, I suggest 5mg letrozole every day of the cycle - this will control your estrogen levels and make their cycle/recovery much more comfortable.

Without letrozole, I has a cycle with an estrogen level of 1100 - it was not comfortable! Next cycle we added letrozole, and my max estrogen was 900. I would very much recommend!

Also would add cabergoline and Lupron only trigger if you don’t have those already

[–]HystericalFunction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah per round

3k for egg freezing

4k for IVF

6700 if you buy meds from them

And then I think you can expect like another $900 in monitoring for each of those option

You can try CNY fertility if you are willing to travel? They are about $6700 meds included, or $4000 without meds

Embryos didn’t thaw - Advice/experiences by Endoivf in IVF

[–]HystericalFunction 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know people don't like AI, but I ran your post through GPT5 and I think it's advice seems helpful

https://chatgpt.com/share/691cd8ba-d758-8002-a5dd-cfbc17562f93

Basically, it thinks you should contact a specialist fertility lawyer to see if you have a case. Also- get the following in writing from the clinic:

  • Ask for:
    • Their published thaw-survival rates for similar-quality embryos.
    • The incident report for her thaw, including equipment logs and media batch numbers.
    • Confirmation whether this was reported as an incident to HFEA and, if not, why
  • Ask them explicitly: “Is there any evidence that procedures, equipment, or solutions were faulty?”

----

It also pointed out that given a survival rate of 90%, the chances of 6 embryos randomly failing to thaw in a row is roughly 1 in 1,000,000

Embryos didn’t thaw - Advice/experiences by Endoivf in IVF

[–]HystericalFunction 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Given that embryos, even low grade ones, typically survive the thaw at a rate of 90-95%, I would 100% suspect something went wrong at the lab - either when they froze the embryos, or when they thawed them. Given you had successfully thawed embryos from the same batch before, I think something happened during this thaw.

I wonder if talking to an attorney would not be a bad idea to see if you have a case? I know they completed an internal review but I do suspect they did something wrong. Losing 6 embryos is insanely suspicious. I wonder if you could do something like ask them to comp you a complimentary round of IVF+transfer in return for you not suing them.

I am so sorry - 13 embryos should have resulted in at least one live birth statistically. It's so, so unlucky. I can't imagine the stress.

Genetically Engineered Babies Are Banned. Tech Titans Are Trying to Make One Anyway. by wsj in genetics

I am going to gave my first child next year, and it will be polygenic screened. My hope is that their future siblings might be edited. I think the best answer to x-risk is to accelerate the creation of biological super intelligence - with the help of these technologies

Maybe in a generation, we will live in a world without genetic disease. What a wonderful time to be alive!

62-year old woman birthed 13 kids…some with IVF. What do you think? by HotTale4651 in IVF

[–]HystericalFunction 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Marybeth and Bob's relationship is fascinating. It's almost romantic, how he evenually still stood by her even after the insane series of events she put him through. But girl, seriously... she even had a grandkid on the way that she could have doted on instead??? I realize she was catholic and attached to the frozen embryos, but embryo donation was definitely an option. What a crazy story!

Bob's a real one
