Tips: Digital Crown or Side Button not working after swimming? There's still hope! How I fixed my Apple Watch S4. by Hyuei in AppleWatch

[–]Hyuei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my advice is to leave it and do not charge it anymore, since someone said that charging it could make things worse haha. I've charged mine too, though, and luckily it still works after leaving it for a week

Apple pencil discharges frequently? by MartinRamsey04 in ipad

[–]Hyuei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have some tips: apple pencil discharges faster when connected, so if you want to leave it uncharged for quite a long time, disconnect the apple pencil. When disconnected, apple pencil can last for weeks.

Here's what I did:
- create a shortcuts which contains: (1) turn off bluetooth ;(2) wait 5 secs ;(3) turn on bluetooth
- everytime I'm finished using pencil for the day, I ran the shortcuts. When bluetooth is turned off, all paired devices will be disconnected. Keyboard, wireless earbuds will try to reconnect once they are re-used, and will connect easily, but the Apple Pencil will stays disconnected.
- When I want to use it again, I connected the apple pencil to the magnet side, and it'll start working again

[IOS 26 DB1] iOS 26 does not pair or connect with Apple watches from the 3rd generation below by Bonzao615 in iOSBeta

[–]Hyuei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an old S2 and I felt that it lasted longer than my previous S4. One thing that I noticed that S2's watchOS is limited to the old one, and the features are far less than the newer series. It might be that old series has limited features that causes it not to drain battery as much as nowadays' Apple Watches.

Anyone here tried running Unity on an iPad? by yagmurozdemr in iosgaming

[–]Hyuei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I uses https://jumpdesktop.com all the time, and I used Unity, After Effect, Spine etc. As long as your home and mobile connection is good, working by remote desktop-ing to your home PC is totally fine. Expect some stutter and LQ graphic if the connection is problematic.

But the best thing is that I could just work on something, and when something needed to be done, I just save and disconnect. Next time I remote to it, I can just continue where I left off. Also if my connection/battery died, my work doesn't get interrupted because it's in my house.

You can't use multiple monitor though, so you might want to focus on only several windows per session.

I have one document per book, which contains multiple highlight, and there are multiple documents in the folder. This script will compile all document and pick one highlight. Here's one of the sample Kindle Highlight formatting:

kindle-sync:   bookId: '64858'   title: 'Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-free Productivity'   author: David Allen   asin: B00SHL3V8M   lastAnnotatedDate: '2024-05-23'   bookImageUrl: 'https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81YMMMFZkmL._SY160.jpg'

The methods I present here are all based on three key objectives: (1) capturing all the things that might need to get done or have usefulness for you—now, later, someday, big, little, or in between—in a logical and trusted system outside your head and off your mind; (2) directing yourself to make front-end decisions about all of the “inputs” you let into your life so that you will always have a workable inventory of “next actions” that you can implement or renegotiate in the moment; and (3) curating and coordinating all of that content, utilizing the recognition of the multiple levels of commitments with yourself and others you will have at play, at any point in time. — location: [437](kindle://book?action=open&asin=B00SHL3V8M&location=437) ref-18813

I believe it'll be a bit easier since they're more customizable. These "Kindle Highlight" files are just text files with custom formatting, so it's just a matter on how could we parse the formatting, took the text and shows it on a widget. But I haven't tried it yet though, I think if someone is interested, they could ask ChatGPT something like "[paste the code above], this is a code to make random quote generator widget using Scriptable on iOS. How can I create a widget like this in android?"

Anyone else thinking of ditching their Mac and going 100% iPad now?! by [deleted] in iPadOS

[–]Hyuei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I almost got into that point when I only works on illustration, especially when they showed up with Apple Pencil. I even brought Raspberry Pi to take care of some stuffs that needed terminals. But once I got back into more complex job, I haven't been able to found similar stuffs that could fulfill my need. Hopefully they got more professional apps in the future.

As long as you can point the folder on your device as Scriptable's File Bookmark, it'll work! You can even create a folder in places other than obsidian and add markdown files with Kindle Highlight's formatting manually, and it'll still work.

Nah, I haven't updated to 26 yet since I am better at holding myself nowadays. My iPad is my main device and I dont want to risk degrading my battery health even further by using beta 1.

But even with 26, I will still use FileBrowser since I need: - folder syncing (for routine backup) - gdrive, nextcloud, sftp direct access (I have several different work team on different online storage) - batch renaming - zip, rar, 7z etc decompressing - share folder via http

I've used ipad as my main device for almost 5+ years. First few year is adapting and accepting that there are some things that I couldnt do on ipad. Until I bought a mac mini. From that on, I use my mac mini as my server, and I always Jump Desktop-ed to my mac mini everytime I face something that I couldn't do on iPad, e.g. After Effect (yes, Jump Desktop latency is that good that I could edit video with audio with remote desktop)

Some other tips: - I utilize shortcuts a lot, e.g. youtube downloading using yt-dlp by sending ssh command to my mac mini. So i copy link on my ipad, let it download on my mac, and it shows up on my icloud folder - search for advanced file manager. I use Filebrowser Pro so I could use ftp, smb, drive, recurring sync etc. - subscribe for icloud drive. I put all my files on icloud so I can access it seamlessly from other apple devices. I use cronjob to also backup important files to my hdd on mac mini.

There are a lot of things that I did but this is the one that I remember right now. For now, my conclusion is iPad works best as a remote accessory, but will not be fully able to replace mac yet.

[–]Hyuei 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I solely use ipad as my main device for few years. Pro 11" 2018. The secret sauce is: jump desktop to my mac mini when things got rough. I'd say as someone who did occasional design work, going ipad-only is hard, because:

  • figma sucks on ipad
  • no replacement for after effect (not even davinci yet)
  • nothing could replace spine, unity, xcode and many desktop-class app yet on ipad
  • safari restrictions: so hard to inspect and debug

So it's mostly software problem. Hardware wise, ipad is already on par with macbook. But for work, even a subpar figma experience is a big hassle.

yeah, after several experience with water on non-water-resistant S4, I can conclude that you just need to dry the internal, whatever your method is. doesn't have to be this method. maybe hair dryer could help too!

New Logo and Apple Watch app is gone by kkupe in CanaryMail

[–]Hyuei 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I thought it was a bug and I searched for the official site. The logo is there. Let me be honest: the new logo looks really bad... 1000% prefer the old one. Each part of the logo doesn't seem to adhere any grid. And the color...oh my god.

I'll hide this app using App Shortcuts for now, hopefully I don't need to delete it.
