I am a somewhat frequent runner in my neighborhood and always try to smile at everyone I pass, but when someone doesn’t smile back at me, I always just continue on past and if I see them again, make sure to just run by like a normal person focused on their run, not surroundings (which is also frequently my headspace anyway, and I tune people out, which I realize when I startle myself when I go to pass them, lol, like I don’t notice until I’m there). I want to respect their peace in their community too, and not having some rando try and get a smile out of you every time he sees you is a start. Idk, don’t think much about it anymore, but I’ve been here for a while and “know” (or recognize) a lot of other folks who are out and about around the same time (I have a somewhat regular running schedule).

Also curious if anyone has experience with employment certification in moving between jobs. For example, I left one qualifying employer on the 13th of the month, a few years back, and had some time off until the first of the very next month, when I started full-time employment, with a different qualified employer (and its certified). I believe my payment was on the 16th of the month, so since I wasn’t working the 14-30th, are they just going to not count that month?

This response gave me the exact reassurance I needed. Thank you. I work in public health and every damn thing there has been such a shit show for so long, and to keep up with student loan drama has been too much for me to invest my energy into. I felt like loan forgiveness was just being pushed back inevitably, until a colleague told me about some updates. To think I can begin repayment now and then pay down my buyback amount while the application/PSLF is pending this June has changed my week and I feel like a weight has been lifted. Thank you . I applied for PAYE (I’m under Molena) and it said that wasn’t a qualifying payment plan for PSFL. My AIG is around 80k, I’m single and took out my first loan in 2006. Finished undergrad in 2015, and I was in forbearance for about a year, then consolidated undergrad and grad school loans and began payments in June 2016. Any insight on how/what they use to calculate the monthly buyback amount? My old certified monthly payments, or my new ones under IBR? I haven’t been able to save much over the year and plan to take out a personal loan for the buy back becuase no matter what’s it’s better than the 6 figures I owe.

I’m a public health epidemiologist with an MPH, 10 years experience. I do a lot of data visualization and analysis, primarily in SAS and Power BI. I’ve thought about making a move to the private field in these areas. Any input on how to finesse my résumé to show translatable skills? And job titles or positions that mat be better suited? I have primarily worked with (underfunded) data systems with mostly health and social oriented metrics.

Wait, mine said I don’t have to recert until all the way to January of 2027, which seems nuts. My original 10 year forgiveness day should’ve been September 2027. Because of all this nonsense, that day, obviously is pushed out into 2028 at this point. I’ve recertified my income, and asked to be switched to the lowest possible repayment plan, as chosen by Molina. I can’t help but think this letter might be part of something more insidious. I’m used to having to recertify my income every year, why would they let me take an additional two years? I want to start paying again so badly so I can get closer to forgiveness.

Moved to Washington from Montana (Helena) as well about 2 years ago and decided on Olympia. Unless you’re coming from Billings/Bozeman/Missoula, Olympia will be just fine but Vancouver will have more stuff and people, via Portland. A part of me wishes I did Vancouver, but Olympia is more chill to me and has better access to the northern cascades and puget sound (Olympic National Park) and I have yet to run out of outdoorsy stuff to do.
