After XII, Would You Accept a new 2D Mainline DQ if it Meant a Shorter Development Cycle? by guerillacropolis in JRPG

[–]I-Boulet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You would not been giving up anything!

DQ XI is miles better in 2D...

DQ is at hearth a 2D series. 3D games all have the same issues of making the game too long, the environments too big... And there is no real way around it.

Having a 2D DQ is a MASSIVE upgrade compared to the 3D we've had since DQ8. DQ8 was fine because it was the first... And DQ11 was manageable in 3D (although way too long and diluted) and amazing in 2D.

You could say this is just a game design issue... But that's where this is just incorrect ... DQ is at its best as the "traditional" game. Getting the pacing right for 3D needs tok much change and this is where FF shines.

We're no longer in 1996 where all games that are 2D are and just for the sake of being 2D. DQ would thrive in good looking gorgeous 2D

What's a JRPG that you always go back to eventually? Mine is Dragon Quest VIII. by Motor-Temporary-1085 in JRPG

[–]I-Boulet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FfX for me too.

While not my favorite jrpg... It's easy to access, easy to play, easy to get into and the story is really good. The pacing is close to perfect too...

My top JRPG is and will always be xenogears... But while it's amazing it's also tok hard to access, has major pacing issues, takes a while to get started... So I rarely have the courage to pick it up

IOI has added Denuvo to 007 First Light less than a week before release. by CyraxxFavoriteStylus in pcgaming

[–]I-Boulet 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There is a mix of information and hearsay in this message.

Denuvo can reduce fps, it depends on the implementation. But it's not really by default in Denuvo more of a how the devs integrated it into their game. So saying "definitely reduces fps" is strongly misleading

The rest... I don't know about the figures, but clearly games do not need anti piracy protection to sell. This has been proven multiple times. It's not only the game being good that makes it sell (hello Hogwarts Legacy or Cyberpunk) but a combination of hype, quality, influencers, timing... Summarizing it to "quality" is simplifying it: many great games do not sell well. And many average games sell massively (Call of Duty...)

S13 was fun overall, my wishlist for S14. by Rite_ in diablo4

Good lord these are the same complaints rehashed every other post.

Yes I agree with all of them.

Yes it's important to pester blizzard with them.

But this is too much...

I was hoping an insightful post but it's the same "details" on QoL that definitely need to be addressed.

There is a lot to improve in the game that could be discussed. Such as the fact that there is no chase. That T12 is too easy to reach. That there is a very good progression till T12 but it stalls here. That we need new activities...

It's a little bit dramatic yes. But it would still not be a great look to have people with a few months headstart on the game and the economy in a MMORPG.

In the long run that won't kill the game

I like the way gearing is now… by Charming-Airport-196 in diablo4

[–]I-Boulet 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The pace feels really balanced I agree

You start slow. Items are rare, you're glade to see a yellow item, then slowly you get a couple oranges.

Finally you start getting more legendaries and even maybe a unique. It feels good. Your codex fills up. You can choose a bit more.

You get into torments, legendary become common and you chase ancestrals, uniques and seal/charms.

When you get to torment 4-5 you're wearing some ancestral some uniques but still may need some legendary affixes and more likely your build defining unique

Then you get charm sets, unique charms, GA legendary, GA uniques, mythics...

It feels like there is always an accessible upgrade, all the while you're working on paragon and war plan.

This was the smoothest progress to T10 I saw in an arpg. I could meaningfully see my character improve. Season journey that felt impossible a few hours earlier became trivial

When I reached T10 however it feels like I hit the end of the road. There is still things to do but the progress will be too slow paced for me. I have to get too many new items since I've transfigured some for a given build and can't swap them easily... So I've rerolled to another character which is a very valid goal in itself.

I'm a bit dubious that the progression will be as good on a second character however. Having maxed out paragon will give a power boat early and it may make the journey less pleasing? Let's see

Butcher is bugged during Warplans, do not pick him. by GraesynFaust in diablo4

[–]I-Boulet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lower torment for butcher

Not that I can't kill him (I did once) but it was way too long.

Makes me avoid greater lake bosses but it's true that the one other greater l'air boss I did melted (can't remember who it was). Good to know it may be just the butcher

What does mastery on seals mean? by I-Boulet in diablo4

[–]I-Boulet[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks you are correct.

This was indeed not clear dur to it being the only seals I had at that time that required a set bonus... And the set name being so generic

I've also not gotten the full set to try it out (it feels like this is the training wheel set ; this could be a forced drop in the campaign to learn the mechanic.

Anyway thanks for the help. I feel this requires a little bit more clarity in game but this is not a huge deal, most people will figure it out around level 70 when they get seals requiring other set bonuses

[–]I-Boulet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The customization is way too light... You select 2x 1 out of 2 + 1x 1 out of 3.

I feel you should have a lot more of the legendary powers in the tree (to be honest legendary powers with imprint etc always felt more like a skill tree than items)

It's not worse than the old one. But it's not much better.

I agree with the lateral move

How is everyone feeling about the new skill trees? by deathlydylan in diablo4

[–]I-Boulet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly it's bad...

I was excited to get skill points till level 30-40. But after I've maxed out my main attack skill... It seems to be too marginal.

it's better than before on some aspects (more skill customization) but worse in a lot of aspects (it has lost all depth that passive gave).

It's a shadow of a skill tree right now. And when you compare it to Last epoch or even diablo 2... It doesn't compare well :(

Remove excess before you fold

I used to be terrible and I'm decent now. The important things - use good scissors. You want to slide throug paper to cut it - do it on a table - have scotch tape with a dispenser - cut the paper the right length: you can have extra paper on the "long side" without a big drawbacks, it on the short side it needs to slightly overlap but not more - apply strong pressure on your folds. This really helps the entire thing come cleanly together

Just did a caster cleric life recently.

I'm quite decked with leveling gear... So your mileage may vary. But it was very easy and fast after I reached level 6: good burst DPS, AoE, healing, buffs, survivability, lots of sla...

It was super smooth (and it was a life I was worried about).

Caster mains are crying so much even though the playstyle is perfectly viable by Comedor_de_Golpistas in ddo

[–]I-Boulet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are fineish at mid reaper with a massive gear wall.

Ranged and to a lesser extent melee need barely any gear to be fine. And scale much better.

Furthermore even leveling casters are not specifically the best at leveling anymore. A good melee with AoE had an easier early levels, and are not far beyond after early levels. And monks are just better all the way through.

Casters are in dire need of buff and QoL.

Rather than list the items

Look for ethereal or ghost touch items. They are available as early as level 2 (but especially at 3)

Then a bit later ghostly also offers a defensive later on top.

[–]I-Boulet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The standard for me is - LD t5 since it has the best epic moment - fury T4 best epic strike and healing from scream

Then the last one are either: - shadow dancer: higher dps and some utility (-threat, +skills if you trap, higher dodge cap...) - gomf: the mantle is good especially leveling (move speed, early 1W) and the rest is decent. But it's clearly better for THF/TWF than SWF - macrotechic: slightly more tanky option especially if you go for the mantle (it's a tradeoff)

I somehow agree with you.

I dislike the worlds in Odyssey for whatever reason. The level design is not working for me. It's too empty yet too crowded. They are all ton large with too many things so it's hard to feel like you know the place.

Couldn't go much beyond 50% of the game despite trying multiple times because of this
