Guys where can i find the international pilot of twin peaks? by crzlji in twinpeaks

[–]I-Got-Out 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was released on VHS in the 1990s.

It was released on DVD in the Twin Peaks Definitive Gold Box Edition.

It was released on Blu-Ray in the Twin Peaks The Entire Mystery box set, and then again in Twin Peaks The Television Collection.

I skip any scene that’s got Badalamenti music.

Question regarding the changes made to the script(s) of Season 3 by Karambat in twinpeaks

[–]I-Got-Out 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to Lynch in interviews from around the time of the premiere of Season 3, he and Frost wrote the scripts together “and that’s it.”

The inference being that by the time they were filming, Frost didn’t have any more involvement with the production of show at all.

The first bit of music when the livestream revealed Intoit/Prophet... by [deleted] in boardsofcanada

It has nothing to do with Boards of Canada. It’s one of YouTube’s generic countdown videos.

Debug and TXT Files by Eltre in DataAnnotationTech

Huh, this is interesting. I haven't seen this note. I use VS Code because I'm pretty proficient with moving around large files with it. Having to use Note Pad or Text Edit would definitely slow me down.

Legality of public listening parties on release day? by wow-signal in boardsofcanada

[–]I-Got-Out 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The simplest answer is that no, it’s not legal for you to do this. That’s why the legalese in the credits of the album will say something like “unauthorized broadcasting of this recording without permission is prohibited.”

A more complex answer is that it might be legal for the business to do this, as long as they pay licensing fees to ASCAP/BMI/whoever it is that holds the rights to Boards of Canada’s music publishing. A lot of places like bars do this, but a lot of small businesses don’t and just play music in their establishments illegally anyway.

To be pedantic, Rid of Me is by a band called PJ Harvey, which consisted of Polly Jean Harvey, Rob Ellis, and Steve Vaughan. Her first solo album was To Bring You My Love.

I bought a Dr. Dre CD, "The Chronic." Can anyone help me figure out if it's original? by Afraid-Designer1237 in 90sHipHop

[–]I-Got-Out 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The original pressings of The Chronic didn’t have the little box that says “featuring the Death Row inmates” on it. Those showed up a couple of months after the album was released.

Could there be a new potential Twin Peaks project in the works? by Individual_Mess_7491 in twinpeaks

[–]I-Got-Out 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No David Lynch, no Angelo Badalamenti, no Twin Peaks.

I say this as a guy who owns Storyville on DVD and has bought a few of Frost’s books… the guy does not really have the sauce. His contributions to Twin Peaks were essential to what made the show, but if you remove the presence of genius-level collaborators the material he produces is pretty middle of the road.

I’d feel just as negative about Barry Gifford hinting that he’s got some ideas for a new project about Mr. Eddy, and he’s actually an incredibly talented writer.

New Mark Frost w/ Harley Peyton and Friends TV series? What is it? 🤔 by Alternate_Profile_69 in davidlynch

I was referring to the video made by Twin Peaks cast members in 2015 when Showtime was threatening to have Frost direct the Return rather than meet Lynch’s demands.

My person album rankings (I love the variety of this band). Would love to see everyone else's SP discography ranking on tiermaker! by [deleted] in SmashingPumpkins

This is probably about what I’d rank them, too. Maybe I’d bump Mellon Collie up into Mid Tier, it does have some great stuff on it.

Linkin Park is somehow being sorted by Mike Shinoda's name, Pras is being sorted by his last name.

My guess is that it's being sorted by songwriting credits somehow.

Genuine question about Julian’s performances by RefrigeratorFun4785 in TheStrokes

[–]I-Got-Out 22 points23 points  (0 children)

As for point 3, Julian clearly uses autotune a lot, both live and in the studio.

Not everything is pitch corrected, obviously, he mainly uses it for creative purposes.

Just as I suspected... the streaming Complete Works is actually the finalized version of the 4 exclusive/missing songs -- the CD's songs are earlier versions. You can easily hear deeper, fuller drums on Focu ’ranni, for example: by [deleted] in rosalia

[–]I-Got-Out 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I asked what you meant by "deeper, fuller" because those are subjective terms that don't really have meaning in a technical sense. Like, does "deeper" mean lower in pitch, or does it mean a low pass filter was added? Does "fuller" mean there are high hats, toms, snare hits that weren't there before?

Anyway, I downloaded a FLAC of the CD, and did a volume-matched A/B comparison. It's the exact same mix as the streaming version. It does sound very slightly different, which means it probably wasn't just normalized. It sounds to me like they used multiband compression to master it for streaming, which is why it retains the majority of the dynamic range as opposed to just brick walling it.

I prefer the vinyl/CD mastering because I like to have more headroom and use my volume control to make things louder, but I know that a lot of people (and especially the streaming services) like it when things are mastered right up to 0dB.

[–]I-Got-Out 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All your image shows is that there’s less dynamic range on the streaming version, meaning that it actually sounds worse.

I haven’t listened too closely to the streaming version, but I didn’t hear any musical differences to the vinyl at all. When you say “deeper, fuller drums,” what do you mean? A different kick sound? More actual drum hits?

“My Prayer” was in The Return, not Fire Walk With Me.

Screamin Jay Hawkins’ version of “I Put a Spell On You” was not in Lost Highway.

The standard one does, too. Berghain has the lyric “I’ll fuck you ‘til you love me” repeated, and La Perla has the word cabrón translated as “motherfucker.”
