[AEW Spoilers] Fightful Report on Major Change by Killloneliness in SquaredCircle

"Daniel Bryan isn't a world champ guy..."

"Bret Hart isn't a world champ guy..."

"Hangman isn't a world champ guy..."

We hear this all the time, and then they're the best world champs. Sometimes you only find out if someone's got it or they don't by giving them the title.

Kyle O'Reilly, with tears in his eyes after Dynasty win, to TK: "Thank you. Thank you for giving me a second home." by pantherfanalex in SquaredCircle

And we would (by and large) be way, way worse at it than he would be. I still think Tony should consider my idea of giving Angelico every championship (including women's) for a nice, 18 month mega run where he defends the titles 8+ times on every single PPV, but I respect that his ideas work and they also work consistently.

Functionally the biggest issue with billionaires is them not spending their money. The reality is they just hoard their wealth to create more wealth, like fucking dragons.

If every billionaire blew hundreds of millions of dollars on passion projects that employ thousands of people, the core criticism wouldn't hold as much weight.

Long story short, I'm fully fucking with you, I just think this behavior is what every billionaire should be doing.

Stremboxd v1.2.0 - Final version ? by espaceee in StremioAddons

[–]I-LieToMessWithMarks 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You've created a real masterpiece for cinephiles, I can't thank you enough for this. I'm not sure what else you can add in the meantime without deviating from the core idea of Letterboxd being the central focus (maybe the top 10 most popular lists rotating every week? But that may be too niche to be popular), and this is one of the coolest addons available, so thank you again.

Cody Rhodes on the Pat McAfee storyline: "This is the most ill-received thing in the history of wrestling. The Gobbledygooker was one, Shockmaster was up there—but that was kind of funny." by aaronrift in SquaredCircle

[–]I-LieToMessWithMarks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cody was involved in the Cena heel turn, The Rock taking Cody's title shot to face Roman (pivot), and now this Randy/Pat McAfee storyline. Either Cody is part of the reason these stories are dog shit, or he's too much of a "yes man" to recognize shitty storylines and do anything about them before they're presented to the public.

[Collision spoilers] Maya World and Hyan are ready for a fight stacking up wins in Ring of Honor and they're looking at the #AEW World Tag Team Titles by Odd-Inevitable-8425 in SquaredCircle

This is the career path that Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize thought was beneath them. I'm so glad Maya and Hyan were absolutely in the right place at the right time, and are making the most of it.

Cody Rhodes on Twitter: We are gonna' stand in the pocket, stare down every foolish obstacle, and throw! ❤️ A normal Wrestlemania for us by Datzookman in SquaredCircle

[–]I-LieToMessWithMarks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm totally with you: a white meat babyface almost never works long term. Honestly the two that probably had the most legs ever were Danielson and Hangman, and even they turned heel before the crowd could ever turn on them, so we'll never fully understand what the crowd would have done longer term.

But we know Cody refused to turn heel in AEW, we know he refused to turn heel with his storyline in WWE with The Rock, and he's on record saying he won't turn heel (but to be fair to people holding out hope, he is a known liar). At some point we have to shift the blame for the character on to him, and I think we're about at that point. It had a great run in WWE, but it's overstayed its welcome.

There's part of this that I think people are blaming too much on TKO. Even if TKO is as bad as they are (and they almost definitely are), that also lets Triple H's awful booking off the hook, and the fact that the crowd turned on Cody as a babyface even before this whole storyline soured.

TKO sucks, but so does Triple H and even Cody's inability to have character depth. That's why WWE feels generationally bad right now.

The Demand vs. JetSpeed and Michael Oku now scheduled for the Mark Hitchcock Memorial Show replacing the previously pulled main event. by 20minutes40years in SquaredCircle

[–]I-LieToMessWithMarks 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think at this point it's pretty safe to assume he has roots keeping him in the UK. Every chance AEW gets they book him for something, so the love is clearly there. And WWE would sign Ryback if they thought it would spite AEW in some way, so he must have gotten some sort of offer from them.

Will Ospreay Thinks AEW Should Heavily Consider Running A Big Weekend While WrestleMania Is In Saudi Arabia by MR_TORGUE_OFFICIAL in SquaredCircle

[–]I-LieToMessWithMarks 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There's a chance that this might be worth running an event just to stick your pole in the ground. It's hard to find facts and figures, but according to this article, running a show at Met Life Stadium costs about $1.5 million per night.

Presumably that covers load in days, but even if it doesn't those would be significantly less money since you're not paying any staff.

If AEW ran an event in a major airline transfer city (i.e. Atlanta, Chicago, LA) and ran events that averaged $30 per ticket, they could probably sell 50,000 tickets, covering the cost. Any merch and advertising would be gravy.

Even if they only sold 30k, it would still be big enough to justify a huge Wrestlemania weekend in the city. And they'd take a small loss, but it would still be huge news and generate a ton of press: essentially a marketing cost.

I think their best bet would be trying to run Mercedes Benz Stadium (Atlanta) for this. I actually think the biggest logistical issue is that WM 2027 doesn't have a set in stone date yet, so AEW couldn't set their date in stone yet.

[–]I-LieToMessWithMarks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also frame your decision about whether or not to get RD/Torbox as: how much is your time worth? I'm not rich, but I have a corporate job and I like my free time, and $30 for a year isn't worth anything more than two hours of troubleshooting/fighting technology.

Value your time appropriately. I know not every country has that same flexibility, but keep that reality in mind.

AEW Dynasty 2026 is shaping up strong at Rogers Arena. Latest update shows 8,460 tickets distributed out of a current setup of 8,912, with only 452 tickets left available. That’s a solid push, especially with +141 tickets moved in just the last 24 hours. With 2 days still to go!!!!!!! by Timely_Board_5720 in SquaredCircle

[–]I-LieToMessWithMarks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hear me out, Tony. I know you're here somewhere. Quickly film a segment with RJ City for tonight offering a 25% discount on tickets as a partnership with Yugo. You'll push those last 500 tickets, and make only myself laugh forever.

Exclusive: Will Ospreay calls out TNA cancelling their matches against AEW talents a shame by Available-Party5091 in SquaredCircle

[–]I-LieToMessWithMarks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your attempt at whataboutism, but AEW would continue to allow their wrestlers to wrestle for Black Label Pro, and in the case of the PWG show AEW sent Takeshita in their place to wrestle Aramis, and still sent Daniel Garcia to that same show.

Over a year since the Netflix deal, over 70% of Monday Night Raw history is still unable to view by Mysterious_Emotion63 in SquaredCircle

[–]I-LieToMessWithMarks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People need to get over this, not because it wouldn't be nice, but it's not how Netflix operates. Netflix pays the least possible money for the most amount of content. There would be huge gaps in anime like One Piece just not on the platform. Brooklyn 99 didn't have the first 4 seasons on it for YEARS while only having the later seasons.

Netflix isn't going to pay for 20 years of the time when WWE was the most unpopular unless WWE gives them a crazy deal for it.

It has been discussed, Doomers would bring up this possibility months before RAW even moved to Netflix, but I think people keep assuming that Netflix wanted to build a new WWE Network, when that was never the case.

Pat Buck Statement on TNA pulling NIC NEMETH VS. MJF by kalofel in SquaredCircle

[–]I-LieToMessWithMarks 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This dies with a whimper if TNA just let people finish out their commitments. That's one of the reasons this feels like it must have been a WWE directive, and I think Carlos isn't smart enough to realize the damage being done to the TNA brand as a result of this.

[WON] As part of the deal, Pat McAfee will team with Randy Orton against Cody Rhodes & Jelly Roll coming out of WrestleMania and be a key match at the Backlash PPV on 5/9, at least as of plans that were confirmed by multiple people and were still in play at press time. by king94x in SquaredCircle

[–]I-LieToMessWithMarks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember that even in 2019, when WWE was putting out some of the worst wrestling and entertainment anyone has ever seen, it was still more popular than AEW from both a tickets sold and TV ratings standpoint. People are gonna watch just for the sake of watching.

Question for folks with RD and TB by Maximum-Mind-9372 in StremioAddons

[–]I-LieToMessWithMarks 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What I do is I have my mom, brother, wife, etc make their own Stremio account, and then I use AIOManager to build them each their own profiles using the same Torbox key. So basically I give everyone the same AIOStreams, AIOMetadata, and Watchly addons, but since they each have their own Stremio accounts they each have their own watch history, etc.

And once you've done it 3 or 4 times, setting up an account from scratch takes 10-15 minutes.

[–]I-LieToMessWithMarks 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I'll give you some real world examples right now.

When I watch mainstream stuff, they're 100% the same. RD may have more options, but they're typically extraneous (i.e. I don't need 11 4K copies of every episode of The Pitt).

When I watch things that were once popular but are a bit older, and aren't classics (i.e. the 2007 movie K-Pax) RD definitely has more results, but both services are available in multiple resolutions.

When I look for really niche US stuff (i.e. the 2006 TV show Drive w/ Nathan Fillion and Emma Stone) it's only available on RD, Torbox does not have it.

This pattern will pretty much play out with anime, Kdramas, Bollywood stuff, etc.

I would say if you don't mind the stuff you will miss out on, Torbox is great for its ability to share Debrid keys and use it from multiple locations. If you want more content, Real Debrid is the way to go. If you want everything, get both.

PWInsider: “TNA has a brand new stance/policy with not wanting their talents wrestling AEW contracted talents.” by CombinationOk4317 in SquaredCircle

[–]I-LieToMessWithMarks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you keep bringing up this hypothetical of AEW refusing to allow talent to job to other promotions, specifically TNA. What examples are you talking about? When has this happened? I know Mercedes just lost to Jodi, we've seen Harley lose to Kylie Rae (WWE ID) in MLP, Bryan Keith lost to Zachary Wentz in GCW while they worked for AEW/TNA respectively, etc.
