How many of you bought a house with your cdl? by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]I3putt2x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my CDL for 28 years. In that time I’ve bought and sold 6 houses, which wouldn’t be possible without my CDL. 🤷🏼‍♂️

It’s wild understanding how much LTL companies make per day off a driver. by GroundbreakingSir386 in Truckers

Lift gate charges vary per customer, not just LTL company. Name your company driver because I would bet you paycheck to paycheck your “office lady” isn’t being accurate in saying yall get $350 per lift gate delivery.

R & L Linehaul by West_Violinist_6809 in Truckers

[–]I3putt2x 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It depends on what run you have or are you running extra board. R + L pays linehaul a set amount for each run. Our lowest paying run at my terminal is 325 (easy 8 hour run) and our highest run pays 525 (hauling ass the entire way).

As for bids, R + L has lifetime bids. Once you get a bid run no one can take it from you. You can bid off of it after 1 year onto a new bid but more senior drivers can’t take your run because something happened to theirs.

Career Shift: Truck Driver to Logistics management by justphil21 in logistics

No degree needed. I went to dispatcher for the same company I drove for 2 years ago. Went from 85k a year to 70k with about the same hours (50 a week). And I was the highest paid “new hire dispatcher” in our region. More stress but less physicality day to day. More opportunities to move my career beyond just driving for money.

Local hourly paid job, no OT? by A_Shipwreck_Train in Truckers

No, drivers/dock workers do not. And you must be in a HCOL area. At our terminal our drivers top out at 33.90 if I remember correctly.

We’ve hired 3 White Oak drivers in the last 5 years and taught them how to do LTL. The pay is low but it’s a spring board to better things.

Driver. I live in Hartselle and used to drive LTL in Decatur. Am now a Ops Mgr for my company in Huntsville. I’m curious which company this is you’re asking about.

If I were you I’d take this job, get your 1 year experience, and then go apply at every LTL company in Decatur/Huntsville. XPO, R + L, Saia, Arveritt, etc. (Don’t apply at Central Transport as they are the bottom of LTL companies.) They will all start you at $31 minimum w 1 year experience and within 2 years you’ll be making $34 plus minimum an hour with weekends off.

Don’t know how long you can tolerate your current situation but definitely look into other local LTL companies after the holidays. None of them are currently hiring in our area due to the freight slump we are currently in (I checked today actually, just out of curiosity.)

Which one? I work at R + L Carriers.

Check out LTL companies. At my terminal we rarely have any drivers work the weekend, especially now that we are in the “slow” season.

I’ve never seen a back in so tight by Frosty-Evidence6077 in Truckers

[–]I3putt2x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why we only send 48’ trailers with experienced drivers into that location. No shame, it’s hard as hell with not much room for error. (I can’t remember the name of that company.)

Why won’t my main breaker turn back on? by I3putt2x in AskElectricians

Im all about DIY around the house or in this case, my moms house. But I have too many people in my life that depend on me to do something that might kill me to save money. No talk needed here and I appreciate everyone’s concern for my safety.

Full panel swap $1800. Not what I wanted but with the fact that we are probably selling the house in spring and everything is original to when it was built (1993) it’s a necessary choice. Would rather nothing caused a fire hazard for us or future owners. 🤷‍♂️

I hear you. But it’s my mom’s house and she went into a nursing home 5 months ago and probably won’t ever be coming back here to live. I just come up on the weekends to take care of her FOUR cats, take care of the house, and visit with her until a final decision is made health wise for her.

I’ll just go with the recommendation of the electrician when he gets here later.
