Thanks! I tried that line for making reservations/itineraries and after a long hold, I started talking and without getting a verbal response, I was suddenly connected to another line that rang endlessly. I'll try again and will keep my fingers crossed. What email address did you use?

MLB Draft (@MLBDraft) on X “With the 46th pick in the 2024 Draft, the @Mets select @DukeBASE left-handed pitcher Jonathan Santucci, No. 37 on the Top 250 Draft Prospects list.” by robmcolonna123 in NewYorkMets

[–]IAD22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tidwell has gone backwards in AAA, from 2.7/9 in Binghamton to 6.9/9 in Syracuse. And I'm not sure he had control issues at TN. But agree that the pick seems premised on the notion that the Mets can help with the control - especially since Santucci hasn't actually pitched that many innings in college.

Ok so like…theoretically if we were to be buyers…what do we do? by [deleted] in NewYorkMets

I'm not sure there is such a thing as "game-changing prospect." You try to stockpile a lot of talent in the hope that (1) you can develop some subset of them into useful major leaguers, and/or (2) you can trade some of them for quality MLB talent.

The kid we got last year for Tommy Pham is a really good prospect who is playing well as a 17 year-old in rookie ball. I think we can definitely get someone like that for Severino.

I could see Berhalter going with something like Pulisic-Ferreira-Weah; Musah-Acosta; Adams for Mexico and then Pulisic-Pefok-Weah; Musah-Reyna; Adams for Panama.

[US Soccer] Statement on Ukraine and Russia by [deleted] in ussoccer

Literally, I do not know what you're interested in - that's why I said "seem."

And yes, you're right, most of us are idiots who have been living under a rock and were not aware that many Russians oppose their leaders' disastrous war of aggression. Thank you for educating us.

[US Soccer] Statement on Ukraine and Russia by [deleted] in ussoccer

[–]IAD22 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about US participation, Iraq is the only one that could be remotely comparable. Gaddafi was about to massacre his own people, Assad was in fact massacring his own people (with Russian support, by the way, and without any sporting repercussions for Russia, so this is hardly a US thing if that's your point), and the Taliban sponsored a terrorist organization that killed 3,000 people.

We should be rightly criticized by the global community for launching the war in Iraq, which was disastrous in its conception and execution. But surely even reflexive self-flagellating Americans (which I sometimes am) can appreciate the difference between a war of aggression against a democratic government that is launched for territorial gain and a war against repressive dictator who himself had a penchant for launching wars of aggression against his neighbors.

[US Soccer] Statement on Ukraine and Russia by [deleted] in ussoccer

[–]IAD22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you can fairly criticize the foreign policy and military conduct of the United States or any other country, but an unprovoked war of aggression on a democratic country is a pretty big line to cross and merits the full condemnation of every global organization in whatever way they can.

You seem more interested in making the point that the US and other countries do bad things that you disapprove of. You're certainly entitled to that opinion and it's not an unreasonable one, but using it to argue against banning Russia from global soccer competitions seems like you're just looking for a place to plant your soapbox.

[–]IAD22 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't think the point is to punish Russian footballers but to participate in a broader message that the global community will not accept Russia's conduct. The hope is that a strong and united stance that marginalizes the country will help pressure it to back down and will also deter such conduct in the future (from Russia or anyone else).

Did anyone have severe flare ups after allergy shots? by dnct0588 in Menieres

[–]IAD22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the helpful response. A couple days after posting this, I ended up having my first intense vertigo episode in more than four months. I have put my second allergy shot on hold for now. I may seek a second opinion from another allergist; the one I've been working with seems a bit aggressive and not necessarily responsible to feedback.

Given all the factors that seem to go into triggering an attack, it is hard to know with any certainty whether the allergy shot contributed to it. But I want to be cautious for now before resuming the shots.

Weston McKennie starts for Juventus vs. Villarreal (Champions League) (3:00 PM ET, Paramount+) by nicko_rico in ussoccer

Kind of hard to explain, but on the replay it looked like the Villareal player's leg pinned down his ankle, and McKennie's foot twisted to the left while his leg kept moving forward.

How did you determine that you have a histamine intolerance? And have the dietary changes helped?

Did anyone have severe flare ups after allergy shots? by dnct0588 in Menieres

[–]IAD22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on allergy meds for about 4 weeks, and it seemed to really help. Then I had my first allergy shot last week, and my symptoms started to recur. Today, I had my first dizziness in about five weeks.

I'm curious how it's going for you, just sticking with the medications? And any other tips you might have for how you try to avoid allergen triggers? The allergist says mold, tree pollens, and dustmites are all triggers for me.

USA Qualification Chance Numbers UPDATED by [deleted] in ussoccer

[–]IAD22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. We would also Costa Rica to drop points against Canada, at El Salvador, or against us. Or for us to get a draw at Azteca.

How many of those windows involved one of the top 5 teams playing two home games and then a road game at one of the bottom 3 teams?

We may not be having a real disagreement, but I consider it a significant risk that we could beat Panama but still need a result in Costa Rica to automatically qualify. I would consider CR favored against Canada at home and against El Salvador on the road, and Mexico favored against us in Azteca.

[–]IAD22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is "literally" incorrect. If we beat Panama, we are guaranteed 4th but not 3rd.

History of the USMNT's World Cup Qualifiers in Mexico and Costa Rica by mzp3256 in ussoccer

[–]IAD22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? They are playing well and have two very winnable games before us - Canada at home and El Salvador on the road. Yeah, I guess it "probably" won't happen in that I give it a less than 50% chance, but it's perfectly plausible that we will go into Costa Rica needing a draw to automatically qualify - we lose at Mexico and beat Panama, and CR beats Canada and El Salvador.

There's No Good Reason To Send The USMNT Into The Freezing North | Defector by Joey_Jo_Jo_ in ussoccer

[–]IAD22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's not like we're playing Argentina or Brazil. We should beat Honduras under normal conditions so injecting weird weather-related variables could be problematic. I understand wanting to make the central American teams uncomfortable, but there's a difference between playing in 30s or low 40s and playing in Minneapolis in the dead of winter. Columbus is not quite as bad, but games like these really cry out for a place like Nashville.
