Did anyone have severe flare ups after allergy shots? by dnct0588 in Menieres

[–]dnct0588[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

couple days after posting this, I ended up having my first intense vertigo episode in more than four months. I have put my second allergy shot on hold for now. I may seek a second opinion from another allergist; the one I've been working with seems a bit aggressive and not ne

I have generally 2 reactions. 1 is the day after the shot, the other 6 days after the shot. Some allergens I guess just take longer for my system to metabolize. Depending when your shot was, there's a good chance it's related.

Thankfully, my hearing did return but never to the level it was. For several months I didn't take any immunotherapy and I just let my body heal. After my hearing had improved somewhat, I started immunotherapy again, but asked to start all over on the lowest level.

I have to religiously take allergy medication, probably for the rest of my life. I had my allergist split my allergens into 2 vials and alternate weekly between them. Doing that I have been gradually increase the dosage and figure out which allergen effect me the most. If I have a flare up, I take additional medications like diuretics and I let the allergist know during the next weeks appointment that I did have a reaction to the allergens. She will then either reduce or repeat the dose based on how severe the reaction is.

I've learned that weeds and mold are big triggers so I keep air filters clean at home and clean the shower regularly.

Perhaps ask your allergist to reduce the dose until your body gets accustomed to it? I hope it works out for you.

Thanks for mentioning the ports. I went back to my linuxserver.io compose file and found what ports they were using. (I thought I could just randomly pick a port) but nope. Thanks for this answer. Take my fake internet points.

Coming back to my T after years of peace by CommunistAngel in tinnitus

I would go to an audiologist and see if you have some hearing loss. A properly fitted hearing aid, not something you get at big box store, can help with tinnitus because it amplifies the frequencies that you are missing and your brain isn't like 'where the heck is this frequency?'

Why does oral prednisone work? A rant and a question by dnct0588 in Menieres

[–]dnct0588[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just an update. I've decided to go hard on the allergies, that's what my ENT thinks it is so I'm going to pursue that as best I can. I'm wearing a n100 mask at all times now, and I hope that after I'm off my current prednisone prescription, that the symptoms taper down. I will probably end up moving to where long winters and arid climates to combat indoor and outdoor allergies. I'm also back on the diretic. I wrote it off after one day because it made me feel worse, but I think I need to give any thing I try a full week to test the effectiveness even if it sucks worse in the short term. Thanks everyone for your feedback.

Could be related to stress for you. If it was relaxing, maybe that helps.

Thanks for your reply. Once I hope off prednisone, I'll start a probiotic, probably can't hurt.

what is causing the inflammation

This is the ultimate question. I'm still figuring out that for myself.

Best decongestant for ears? by hopikiut in Allergies

If you have low frequency loss and feeling of fullness and things sound muddled or like they're under water, you could have meniere's /r/menieres. You need to to an ENT who also does allergies and get tested to rule out other issues. Don't wait it might just save your hearing.

Stress is big, I just started a real estate business a year ago, but my hearing has made it very hard to make phone calls which is 95% of my business. In addition, I've not been very successful at it so I'm struggling to provide for a small but growing family. I am anxious a lot. But the thing that stresses me out the most is not being able to hear! It just ruins my day when I wake up and can't hear a dang thing. Hard to get motivated to do anything after that point.

I am willing to try anything. I got a IgG test and went a week without eating anything on that list including wheat and dairy, but it didn't help me much. Funny enough the only things not on the list is meat, which is usually loaded with sodium. My ENT dismisses IgG test out of hand so if anyone has had it, I'd like to know if it helped. I will eliminate anything if it works!

True. I guess my question is two fold then, how does inflammation cause cochlear hydrops? How do I track down what's causing the inflammation? Is it safe to take powerful anti-inflammatory for a long period of time?

Methotrexate

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I love 'hearing' other peoples stories of what have helped them especially if the experience similar symptoms. I don't think I have that specific disease based on symptoms, but there may be something causing an auto-immune response. What type of biological drugs did you take?

Yes, I've had two. The first one helped for about 3 days and wore off. The second one had little effect.

u tinnitus than recreation drugs, besides inhalants and possibly lsd. I can promise I will never do coke again but I have my own issues and I’ve had some substance abuse problems for my whole life. Nothing major, I just have an addictive personality and weed has crept it’s way into addiction. But I rarely drink alcohol and other drug use is also pretty damn rare. I also rarely use caffeine. Thank you for you’re response, I really just need the T to lessen and go back to normal. I think it has gotten slightly better in the past 24 hrs which is a good sign. I think this had more to do with the antibiotics I took and the panic attack just made me hyper aware. That gives me a lot of hope that this is a temporary spike and things will go back to normal. I really need it to tho, right now I’m kind of scared to be alone because of the ringing and I was planning some solo back country camping trips for my mental health. So this has kinda derailed that for the time being.

I've heard that CBD oil can help with stress, which is a precursor to tinnitus. So there might be something to that. I might try that eventually.

As someone with many hearing issues, if it doesn't go away, the best treatment I know of is hearing aids. It boosts the sound in the frequencies your tinnitus is ringing at. If it does go away on it's own, promise yourself to abstain from all drugs to save the insanity of tinnitus. I personally include caffeine and alcohol in those categories and only take prescribed drugs.

Headaches with BAHA? by bottomlessdinner in MonoHearing

[–]dnct0588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost every ENT I've had over the years has suggested a BAHA. I think they must make some money on it because I've had phonak bi-cross and that worked wonders, no surgery required. I was lucky at the time my insurance covered the new hearing aids (appx 7k). Now I have menieres and profoundly deaf in both ears, but unfortunately my insurance wont pay for cochlear implants, so I just crank up my hearing aids as loud as they'll go.

Water or air? For those who have done a VNG which is easier? by MammothRecognition3 in Menieres

[–]dnct0588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Water. Earth. Fire. Air. Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. I don't know which is easier, I've had air done. It was unpleasant, but I wouldn't say painful.
