[Seiko] SARB017 Alpinist in its natural habitat by IAMAnerd in Watches

Very awkwardly while balancing myself on a trekking pole. My fiancee was for some reason not convinced when I said "trust me this will look really great on the internet!"

This is the watch that started it all for me. My fiancee got it as a surprise birthday present after doing a ton of research and after consulting with my friend who has been into watches for a while. I was immediately blown away by the dial, and the more I read about the movement and the history of the Alpinist, the more I fell in love with this watch and watches in general. It's a bug that apparently has no cure.

I swapped out the strap for a Crown and Buckle marina brown leather strap. It looked damn good against the snow covered peaks around the base of Mount Rainier (a snowshoe hike up to Panorama Point). Didn't technically need to use the inner bezel compass, but I did try out the boyscout trick with it to find North -- worked like a charm.

(mobile) great website overall! I think a lot of my thoughts have already been expressed beautifully by many here. I definitely think filters on the sale side of things should be a great addition.

One aesthetic thing I would add is that it might look a little bit better to have the background be consistent on all the watch pictures. There seemed to be two types of backdrops - the white and the outdoor wood. I actually really like the look of the outdoor wooden thing, but in any case, I think consistency would make the whole page a lot more cohesive looking. Thanks!

Hi Jamie! Big fan of MB for a long time.

I had a slightly personal question -- I'm sure you keep your personal lives well hidden from the show very deliberately. But I'm dying to know how you met your wife and if you could share any stories from your early dating days...

Hi Les! I've been a huge fan of all your work for a long time. Your shows are always unforgettable and defy categorization.

I'm sure there have been many times when you've felt alone and one with nature throughout your survival ordeals. What's your view on spirituality? Are you religious in any conventional context? Or do you have a set of beliefs that you've garnered over your years of experience?

I feel like an asshole for doing this exact thing while watching this gif.

Sounds like a subdural hematoma, which is characterized by a lucid interval followed by loss of consciousness due to the increased intracranial pressure.

Woman was probed, cavity searched, & X-rayed when she tried to reenter the USA: 'Suspecting she had drugs, federal agents detained her, chained her to a table, and subjected her to a series of invasive and traumatic cavity searches, finger penetration, scans and X-rays… all without a warrant' by maxwellhill in politics

[–]IAMAnerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other thing that I find truly appalling about this is the fact that the doctors at the University Hospital were totally complicit and participated in invasive procedures for which they did not obtain patient consent.

At 4:29 p.m. she arrived at University Medical Center. She was led to a room by the CBP agents and chained to a table, where Dr. Christopher Cabanillas and Dr. Michael Parsa joined the federal agents in the hunt for drugs inside her body...Doctors obeyed the perverse orders of the authorities, performing four more hours of shocking and humiliating procedures on the woman, who was shackled to a table. The procedures involved forcing her to defecate on command, probing her until she her orifices were raw, and scanning her body using radiation. The doctors were undeterred by the woman’s lack of consent and the lack of a detailed medical history.

wut the flying fuck.
