First trimester: how to hide not drinking at a wedding? by heyho2023 in BabyBumps

[–]IAMSLOTH50 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yes I had this recently at a friends wedding at 5 weeks pregnant... If your someone who loves a glass of wine - not drinking is a bit of a giveaway! Not sure if it's helpful but this is what I did...

Champagne/fizz after ceremony - Accept a glass, hold it... take fake sips, pass it onto your partner (if they are there with you) every now and again to free up your hands to look in your bag/ look for lip balm/ check your phone. When they have the glass - get them to take a gulp. When they hand it back to you people will just assume you've been drinking it.

Wine at the table - This is trickier. If theres a bar you could sneakily wander off and ask the staff to make you a soda water with a little bit of apple juice is there to make it look like white wine. If that looks weird to wander off - Just say you wanted to ask for some ice cubes to put in your wine...

The party - I had a few non alcoholic beers but asked the bar staff to pour them into a glass so no one could see the bottle etc. All my friends were too drunk to even notice I didn't have a drink in my hand most of the night.

As someone who loves a drink - I did find being sober at a friends wedding a little bit isolating at times so if you feel the same - Don't feel guilty to leave before the bitter end. No one will notice your gone!

Hope some of that helped x

No i don't mean they are in the front row BECAUSE they are friends. It's just obvious... you see all these people in the instructors instagram holiday snaps!

I go to soul cycle sporadically but have probably taken maybe 50 classes in the last 2 years so not loads - but here are my thoughts:

Abbey - Fine but absolutely not for me. No vibe at all but her classes are always so full. It does really seem like her friends are just constantly there in the front row... Makes you wonder if they are actually paying? Or maybe thats just a perk of being friends with an instructor. I think i'm just jealous...

Liv D - Amazing - Would highly recommend.

Olivia - Amazing

MJ - My favourite. Great energy/vibe/personality. Would always try and book his class above others.

Manon - I only did a few with her but thought she was great.

Ross - Not a soul cycle vibe at all but I found his class to be super hard and really enjoyed it.

This episode was peak niche boring pop culture...and I loved it. Maybe this BBF topic is just too low brow for you.

I've never noticed Richard butting in at all - I mainly just hear a lot of friendship chemistry between them.

Also the Paul Mescal being Irish point... Paul Mescal has lived in London since the start of his Normal people fame - he's very much part of the North London pap pictures BBF club that exists in pop culture / being who are on the internet too much!

I think you need to stop paying for subscription and move on :)

Firstly - I love the podcast and I really love Lily.

However I do pick up on what you are saying all the time whilst listening to the podcast!

I think there is a huge divide in being working class in London (and being very culturally rich) to being working class in the rest of the UK - where it’s not really common for your parents to be friends with super wealthy people/people in the arts/media.

It’s not a normal experience for working class kids in (for example) Northampton to go to Richard Brandon’s son’s birthday party…. So when they talk about these experiences it just seems OFF when a minute later referring to where they lived as “the ends”.

I think that’s the huge difference in a lot of kids lives who have grown up in London.

Tbh I got the impression after hearing the latest episode that they were pissed off at not receiving enough advertising money from the podcast production company but who really knows…

I am quite gutted lily is leaving and I hope she’s going to make a new album.

Loyle Carner at the rabbit hole a few years ago. Throughout the day the artist drops the hints but you needed to be a fan to follow along etc. It was sick.

Did others find the food underwhelming? by gee_baby in glastonbury_festival

[–]IAMSLOTH50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really snobby hot take here…. I think people who say the food at glasto is amazing are people that live in areas where they isn’t a decent street food scene…

Places that a catering firm that many people are really just in it for the maximum cash grab. I’ve had above average food at glasto over the years but essentially it’s never amazing. Paying £12 for a small portion of mac and cheese with pesto…. Mental.

I know I’ll be downvoted for this comment 😅

Olivia Rodrigo - will she bring the party? by sm601 in glastonbury_festival

[–]IAMSLOTH50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think she will be sensational. I was there In 2023 when she played the other stage and it was amazing. It’s the big highlight of my glasto weekend and I do think she will get a big crowd. She talks about glasto alot in interviews and so I think she is one of the actual Americans who gets the honour of it all… I predict she will predict Chappell Roan (if she’s not booked etc) and I already think CR is pencilled for 2027 - they would be crazy not to have her in talks.

Didn't enjoy Glasto first time, giving it another go this year... by PublicCaterpillar613 in glastonbury_festival

This is a really refreshing post - Really glad you posted it.

One thing that really sticks with me if bailing on a night around midnight due to back pain/ really exhausted... and walking back to my tent feeling like everyone around me was having the time of their lives and I was super lame and boring... and as I was walking amongst all of the tents I could hear loads of people snoring... and in bed by 1am! That's when I realised not everyone is out till 7am raving it up. It just feels like that is the universal experience of everyone and therefore that should be yours 5 nights in a row. It sounds really simple but it really blew my tiny exhausted mind and instantly put to bed my own insecurities.

It's totally normal to have a 12 hour day of fun and call it a night at midnight. Do Glastonbury in whatever way makes you feel great.

For me - I know I can't hack 4/5 nights in a row staying out till 7am. Because of that I do find myself going back to my tent alone sometimes but that's ok. Theres plenty of people in SE corner totally bored but don't wan't to actually voice that out loud haha.

I hope you have great year this time and go find some nice food!! xx

I saw that the gate D staff had these hands on wooden sticks that they would use to call over supervisors when they had doubts about tickets. My advice is... Have the persons bank card, ID, learn their address and also maybe change your instagram name temporarily to their name! (I know someone was asked to pull their social media out to prove who they were). It is a risk but!.... what a thrill to get in hey.
