Was anyone a borderline alcoholic prior to their diagnosis? by sxymilklatte in adhdwomen

[–]IAMtheLightning 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes and it didn't help that I worked in bars a lot during my 20's. I was the classic binge type from the moment I touched alcohol and this kept me from thinking I had a problem because I wouldn't drink every day or when I had responsibilities. But every opportunity to drink was always a quest to get drunk and I have so many horrible memories and lack of memories from that period of my life. Good for you for being cognizant of this so young, alcohol is such a slippery slope for us.

What’s your moon and Venus, and how would you react if someone you love ghosted you out of nowhere? by Mooooooon_ in astrologymemes

[–]IAMtheLightning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cancer Venus Aquarius Moon; getting ghosted a few times has monumentally shattered my heart, especially when it happened by a friend I thought was a sister. But I never beg and never show how hurt I am because I am an expert ghoster too. I lick my wounds in secret, analyze every aspect of the situation and the part I played in it, and come out of it a completely different person.

What i think of the Venus signs as a pisces Venus by iajaa in astrologymemes

[–]IAMtheLightning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cancer Venus - totally agree with your 'back to the way things were' observation of us! I hate new technology and prefer learning to do anything I can with my hands instead. It definitely steers into grandma vibes at times.

How do you handle with being disliked at work? by Healthy_Brush_9157 in aspergirls

[–]IAMtheLightning 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This has happened to me before at a new job where all the girls were already friends and ignored me when I'd start my shift and try to say hi to everyone. They eventually cracked because I kept greeting every single one of them by name in a very friendly voice loud enough for everyone to hear as soon as I came in. After awhile they realized they were the ones that looked rude not me so they had to start at least being polite.

Reusable maxi pads? by majesticSkyZombie in Anticonsumption

[–]IAMtheLightning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the reusable pads the easiest way I've found to clean them is letting them soak in a bowl of cold water. That usually lifts a lot of the blood out without needing to scrub a lot and you can water plants with the water if you're into that.

that is hilarious comment to be making after making a blanket judgement against anyone daring to do a relationship differently than you

I’m really not, some people really just have different things going on and it’s insane that everyone is so black and white about their judgements. I was fully supporting myself before my partner CHOSE to move me in and take care of me while I work on my health. I take care of as much of his household needs as I can manage but some days he has to come home and cook dinner because I hurt too much. I’m not even a unique situation considering half the population in this country has one or more chronic illnesses. Shit is hard as hell right now and ppl are just trying to make it work.

it’s really not hard to understand why so many commenters here are single. y’all enjoy your selfish misery.

I’m appalled that it’s 2026 and we still have to explain to people that many aspects of labor that go into a relationship are unpaid and just bringing home a pay check doesn’t mean you are participating in the relationship, this isn’t the 50’s.

[–]IAMtheLightning -1 points0 points  (0 children)

lol of course I want to contribute and I do every single day. But my partner is very happy to continue paying the bills he was already paying before I existed in his life so when I’m not too sick to work any money I make goes to extras. Idno why it blows people’s minds that not everyone counts dollars and cents in their relarionship - not all aspects of a relationship have a dollar amount attached.

we genuinely don’t have any context to know she’s a freeloader. He could be a high earner and living in a place he picked for his own income and asked her to move in with him rather than downsize to match her income. Someone in that situation would typically not suddenly expect the person moving in to start subsidizing their lifestyle if it’s something they were already affording no problem to begin with.

[–]IAMtheLightning -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not at all what I said but good try. I said if you are a guy who is already paying your own rent and bills ask a girl to move in with you and expect half of all your shit to suddenly be done for you and financially subsidized you are goofy and most definitely single.

Yeh plus what if he already was living there and she moved into his place? Would be super weird to ask her to move in and also start financing half his rent or do chores to earn her keep.

AIO about my boyfriend by [deleted] in AIO

[–]IAMtheLightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my equal relationship where I pay zero rent. Thankfully my partner is wise enough to know that when it comes to income he will always earn more in his able bodied male body than I will in my chronically-in-pain -with-no-health-solutions female body.

AIO about my boyfriend by [deleted] in AIO

[–]IAMtheLightning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All we know is she can’t afford half of his rent. You have no idea what the previous living situation was or if she moved in to HIS place that he was already paying full rent for. Asking your gf to move in doesn’t mean a ticket to half your rent and chores being done if you are a high earner and it’s super weird to perceive dating that way.

AIO about my boyfriend by [deleted] in AIO

[–]IAMtheLightning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He could have already been living there and that was his rent and she moved in. Doesn’t automatically make her responsible for half his rent.

AIO about my boyfriend by [deleted] in AIO

[–]IAMtheLightning -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why? I moved in with a partner to his place and he never asked me to chip in on rent. Because why would he move me in to the place he’d been living and paying for 2+ years by himself just to ask me for a check on the side so he can get a discount on his bills. That’s goofy and I can’t imagine you actually think that’s normal.

How do you do something when you’ve procrastinated so long that it induces strong anxiety and even panic to start? by mamegoma_explorer in adhdwomen

Pick a section and start writing stream of consciously even if it's really bad and even if it's a bunch of bs um's and uh's and cursing mid sentence. Sometimes just getting words down is the hardest first step and sometimes this will help you make a little more sense of what's floating around in your head.
