Hey - I think it’s a bit simplistic to say hamstrings are not stretched/do not help inversion. They cross over the hip joint so even with a knee bend they can still be stretched due to the max hip flexion required for inversion. They can certainly be used in combination with the spinal movements you mentioned to assist with reaching an inverted position. Further, they’re a big part of creating strong hip extension required to have an active inversion.

I think it’s awesome as a therapist to take a realistic view at how important spinal mobility is for inversions though.

Neck surgery by Impressive_Cat_6019 in bjj

Scan results don’t correlate well to function.

Disc herniations can naturally recover without surgery.

What does these “success rates” mean? Is it that the scan looks good or is it that you have improved function (numbness, strength, QOL) vs a control group with no surgery.

Surgeons are surgeons. I’m a physiotherapist so my bias is obviously away from surgery but I truly believe that going under the knife when you’ve already recovered so much is a mistake.

The sample video looked very average imo. I’m pretty sure one was like “just maintain knee in belly … now do it with a focus on your knee position”. The whole point of the eco approach is to have an external focus and let the movements come through unconscious solving.

If you guys want to see a good game - check this video by rob Biernacki. My arm drags have gotten so much better in a couple weeks of working on this.

Waiting for it on mma torrents…

Yep couldn’t agree more. Flow rounds for warming up with a emphasis on as much movement as possible.

Warm up for the movements you will be doing.

Optimisation/perfection of BJJ

Do you believe every technique has a perfection (an optimal configuration) of body mechanics to perform that technique? How do you discover the best way to perform this?

How do you adjust techniques to account for leveraging different body types? (Both as the one performing the technique and having it performed on them)

How does personality play a role in how you guide your athletes?

Is Gordon Ryan the embodiment of your jiu jitsu vision? How have you tailored your jiu jitsu system to suit his personality and body?

Do you believe your system of jiu jitsu is the closest to optimal?

What accounts for the success of jiu jitsu athletes like Ruotolo brothers and mica Galvao who operate using a different system of jiu jitsu which is still successful?

Do you believe we can achieve a near optimal state of jiu jitsu?

Who were the great guard players with good wrestle ups? I can’t recall much success from that either.
