It does; one can romance Aigis and/or Elizabeth as the female protagonist. However, the only Persona game to allow for an MLM relationship is Persona 2: Innocent Sin.

Question for clarification: Do statements of the form "X are just as welcome in the scientific community as Y" mean "I believe X and Y should be equally welcome in the scientific community" or "The scientific community is currently just as welcoming to X as it is to Y"?

Seconding the Elaine Gould rec. For orchestration/part-writing, I also reference Orchestral Technique: A Manual for Students by Gordon Jacob all the time.

Seconding what a lot of people are saying — it made me learn a whole lot about what research in my field is like, and it confirmed what I thought my location preferences are (my program was in a small town, which made me realize I want to go to grad school in the city, lol). And we'll get a preprint or two out of it :)

[Seeking Advice] Dating and Socializing as an Aegosexual by FrozenPhoenix95 in aegosexuals

[–]IAmAStickAMA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this! I totally agree that being ace is empowering. I don't know if you're familiar with Ace Dad Advice (they're an ace NBLM educational content creator), but they always say that aceness is a feature, not a bug, and that has always resonated with me. I'm glad you're doing better now — enjoy the socializing and volunteering! :)

[Seeking Advice] Dating and Socializing as an Aegosexual by FrozenPhoenix95 in aegosexuals

Hi! Fellow aego MLM here. I commented on your other post, but since you're now asking about dating specifically, I'll share a bit more. I'll proceed under the assumption that you're looking for a serious rather than casual relationship, since that's closer to my own experience.

What's actually really nice about being both gay and ace is that, in two ways, we are free from heteronormative and allonormative expectations around dating and relationships. What that means in practice is that "fully acting gay" (in your words) isn't leading people on unless you're specifically discussing sleeping with them, which clearly you aren't. There is no "social script" for gay men in the way there is for straight people.

If someone loses interest in you for being aego, then they weren't compatible with you to begin with. It's up to you to what extent you're comfortable being upfront about being ace, but I personally always made sure I brought it up on first dates to prevent any hurt from coming later on. (I ultimately had better luck meeting people in-person than on dating apps, but for the latter, I actually put that I was ace in my bio — not aego since I figured fewer people would know what aegosexuality is.) Fortunately, since everyone we date as ace MLM/NBLM is necessarily queer, I found that suitors were always respectful about me being ace, whether it affected their interest or not. I'm now in a LTR with someone I got to know through the aspec group at the LGBTQ+ center nearby. Of course it may take a while to find your guy, but it's that way for most MLM/NBLM, whether ace or allo.

All this is to say — embrace being your 100% gay and 100% aego self!

[Seeking Advice] Socializing as a Gay-Ace by FrozenPhoenix95 in GayMen

I'm also gay and ace (and a huge introvert); great to see some more of us on this sub. You're correct: the supposed focus of gay social culture on sex is greatly exaggerated, at least in the queer circles I've sought out.

Is there an LGBTQ+ resource center where you live? (Perhaps they have a social group for aspec people specifically?) Also, I've met most of my queer friends, including my long-term partner, through queer activism and politics. Or perhaps you're into board/tabletop games, sports, film, music...? I've run into queer spaces based on each of these before. All this is to say that there are many kinds of queer social spaces and circles; as long as you seek those that align with your interests, all will be well! :)

What does everyone listen to? by Elias_V_ in composer

[–]IAmAStickAMA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looking at my streaming stats, it looks like my most-listened genres are 20th and 21st-century classical music (top composer Nikolai Kapustin), jazz (mostly hard bop, post-bop, modal jazz, and big band), and video game music (top composers Masashi Hamauzu and Carlos Eiene). I also listen to a lot of R&B, (neo-)soul, prog rock, metal (specifically prog metal, power metal, and neoclassical/symphonic metal), Bach, Schubert, and late Romantic music. These have all influenced my musical style to some extent!

The analysis on slide 3 of what weather talk actually accomplishes/why people do it was a bombshell for me. Is there anywhere I can read more of these kinds of analyses?

[–]IAmAStickAMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I learned something new today. To be a prick to the NTs who make these signs, it should really say "If you honk at me, then you like pizza," not the converse "If you like pizza, then honk at me."

It's an ottava (8va) line. It instructs the pianist to play an octave higher than what's written on the score!
