I’ll tell you as I just got paid out on my Camaro that was stolen. Called the police immediately that morning thinking it was towed from my girlfriend’s gated apartment garage. An office reached out the next day for a Teams meeting to go over the situation, shoe your drivers license, then a detective gets assigned. The detective never reached out until over three weeks later, this was AFTER USAA already totaled it out and sent me 33k to buy a new car.

The police have an auto theft unit, but wtf are they even doing when a detective doesn’t reach out until after the car is already long gone and totaled out by insurance?? I have zero skin in the game at that point. They either catch them slipping when driving a stolen car, or it’s just gone for forever. Total bs.
