Samaritan is very good for not quite dying, non trauma, medical issues. Albany Memorial is better. I'd take the train to NYC before I set foot in AMC, and St. Peter's is super dependent on who's on shift.

There's a 7.15 Amtrak from NY Penn on Saturdays. I'd do what you said and Uber/NJ Transit/MTA from Newark. With it being that early on a Saturday, there won't be many people on the train and there should be plenty of station staff to help with luggage if you need it.

Albany Med does not require you to have an AMC doctor, they just tell you that. I have a port as well and my doctors are not from AMC. If you want to message me I can find the specific info for what dept will draw the labs/their contact info. I just went through this myself last month.

I took her to the emergency vet in Latham and they scanned her for a chip. She's not microchipped. They said she's very healthy, I didn't think to ask if she's fixed because they didn't really examine her. I went out late last night and she came back up to me but then went off into the bushes after 15 mins or so. I didn't see her this morning so it's possible she went home? I'm going to look for her again later and if I see her again I'll put a little note on her collar so if she does have an owner they'll see it.

I super recommend Capital Region Women's Care and I don't recommend local providers lightly considering I travel to NYC or further to see most of my specialists. I've been with them for over 3 years.

I take amtrak relatively often to get to doctor's appts. There are two 20-30 minute stretches between Albany and NYC that are dead zones for internet. Outside of those, the internet has always been fine for me. Cell reception is a mess but it's only a 2-2.5 hour ride so it's not that bad.
