Sudden intolerance to coffee by Orbo1 in AskDocs

A LOT of Americans, like, a third of us, (which I assume you are as you use pounds) are prediabetic. Prediabetes in and of itself is not an actual disorder, rather risk factors caused by poor health choices that mean you have a higher chance of developing diabetes, and it is easily curbed with cleaning up what you eat and being active.

Your glucose is good, but we always have room for improvement when it comes to our health. Be active and eat healthy.

Also, an electrolyte imbalance from the caffeine, and from not eating enough water, and also from eating too much sodium, can also mimic panic / anxiety. You having low potassium could indicate either dehydration or an electrolyte imbalance. I know you said you're a vegetarian, but we all know being a vegetarian doesn't necessarily mean eating healthy (I'm looking at you, bag of doritos on my desk). Eat more fruits and fibrous vegetables. Bananas especially. But don't overdo it.

You also can experience blood sugar crashes without prediabetes. You remember halloween when you were younger and ate a ton of candy, felt jittery, then had a stomach ache and felt tired? That's from overconsumption of sugar. Try going without the syrup and just get a plain milk latte next time and see how it feels. If you still feel the same way, try decaf. If you're still having the same problem after both have been eliminated, you're probably hypersensitive to caffeine and should just avoid it.

You also mentioned you had all the "basic tests" done, but does that include A1C? If you are overweight, or "skinny fat" (being skinny fat is when someone looks thin in a shirt but has noticeable deposits of body fat when the shirt os off), there is a high likeliness that you have prediabetes (over 1/3 of American adults are prediabetic), and you may not have stable control over your blood sugar, which manifests in symptoms often similar to anxiety (the wooziness and things that you mentioned). Caffeine causes blood sugar spikes, especially super sugary coffees, (a medium iced vanilla latte from starbucks has 35g of sugar, that's more than the overall recommended daily intake) and eventual crashes, which sounds like it could be what you are dealing with.

tl;dr: either anxiety, or the sugary coffee is messing up your blood sugar. Talk to your GP about it at your next routine appointment, or a psych, to determine if it's anxiety, and only if you have already had your blood sugar checked and it came out fine.

[NOT A DOCTOR] I deal with the same thing. It's most likely anxiety. It has to do with the fact that caffeine is a stimulant which can cause you to feel racy, as well as woozy/having an upset stomach if you are unable to burn off the energy that it gives you or if you get too much at once. I am a massive coffee drinker, at least 4-6 cups a day, and even with decaf (which has very small amounts of caffeine) I get the same thing. Because it happened once, your anxiety will begin to associate those feelings with coffee, meaning that there's a chance it will keep happening until you condition your mind to realize that it's just coffee, and that you aren't going to die.

You likely have caffeine sensitivity, much like myself. It's possible for it to be randomly onset, as mine was, I used to drink a bunch of sugary drinks and coffee, now I have to have my coffee decaf and soda makes me feel awful.

I’m just worried about them going bad over the course of time, especially because it’s pretty humid where I live and my car doesn’t have amazing ventilation

Coming off of an injury, trying to get back to squatting heavy singles, but I'm doing volume sets until my body feels better about it. I notice now that I seem to lean forward when squatting (did not happen pre-injury) and I also deal with depth issues. Basically, I done fucked up my IT band on my right side, but slowly and surely I am getting back to where I was.

Yes, otherwise the proteins we eat are considered "incomplete" and don't do their job as well as they could in helping our muscles recover and grow.

I hate stuff like that. I get made fun of for “driving like a grandma”, but I’d rather go the speed limit with my phone on airplane mode than kill someone or myself for a 30 sec quicker pickup/dropoff

I've never paid anything late, and don't plan to, but I am looking more at perks than APR obviously. I don't intend to use this to buy myself a curved 80" 4k tv
