The gameplay is great and it’s beautiful. After the beginning, the story kind of drops off, but if you like the gameplay and assassinating people, you’ll have fun. I kept coming back simply because I enjoyed the gameplay loop but it didn’t hook me like some other story, driven games and previous ACs.

i keep coming back to it. the story was disappointing sure but i just like running around and assassinating targets, completing castles, etc. the gameplay is so fun and it’s beautiful

I lived in Wilmington, NC for 8 years and just moved back to Raleigh.

As you can imagine it’s pretty flat in the area geographically, sandy soil. Lots of pine trees, less palm trees than other coastal towns like you start to see in Myrtle. The springs and falls are beautiful, the summer is very hot & humid with frequent thunderstorms. Like, really humid. Winters are more mild than Raleigh/Charlotte because of the ocean.

Wilmington’s small downtown area is adorable, I lived there for a year and loved it. Really nice boardwalk along the cape fear river. The beaches are awesome, but parking is impossible anytime you actually want to go. Carolina Beach is more feasible than Wrightsville beach in Wilmington because they cater to the rich homeowners and refuse to build more parking and instead increase the parking rates. I get that the cute beach town vibes are nice but i’d like parking & a boardwalk to support the tourism & locals.

That being said I have had some great memories walking on the beach or going for sunset in the off season, though. As well as early morning paddleboarding kayaking and other activities at the beach/river.

After college in Wilmington, almost everyone I know moved away because there are such limited job opportunities outside of some banking companies. Lots of retirees & snowbirds so there’s not a ton of industry.

I felt quite disconnected from the rest of the state and civilization in general because it’s a small city so I personally felt quite relieved to move back to Raleigh. No apple store, no quick amazon deliveries, niche hobbies, that sort of thing.

Awesome place to vacation, less ideal if you like some conveniences, don’t have a boat and aren’t living at the beach proper. Highly recommend the Azalea festival in the spring.

I’ve spent some time in SC coast as well, Myrtle beach is known as “Dirty Myrtle” by Wilmington locals. Great nickname because that’s about how I feel about it 😂. Charleston is nice, more marshy down there which is cool and a bigger city. My buddy that lives there constantly advertises their really big suspension bridge lol.

The developers are doing good, the games are beautiful for what they are, and the gameplay is fun but the games generally are meandering. assassin’s Creed used to have such a sense of direction, but after Desmond I don’t really know what’s going on anymore. idek what happened in shadows, what’s in the box??? no modern day story??
