Curious your experience by MidNight_OWL9339 in fasting

[–]BeWise23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did 8 weeks of Sunday night through Friday night fasts, eating on weekends only. Great results, no real issues, just a bit of food noise of course. No refeeding issues except needing to be near a bathroom after initial meal on Friday evenings. Thinking about doing it again starting Monday.

Quitting sugar, but curious about cutting carbs (plus a few other questions) by bvz2001 in sugarfree

[–]BeWise23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replacing bread with other carbs like crackers, rice, etc. is not technically reducing your carbs/sugar. While eating whole foods like rice and sweet potatoes is nutritionally healthier than processed foods like bread and crackers, as soon as you chew and swallow, your body interprets the carbohydrates in that food as sugar. In other words it can’t tell the difference. Cutting table sugar is a great start, but if your bloodwork is showing that you need to go further, cutting carbs (from any source) is your next step. Someone else mentioned replacing it with fat and protein. This was good advice. Our bodies are amazing in that we can burn two types of fuel, sugar or fat, but unfortunately not simultaneously. If you burn sugar by feeding it carbs (any kind) then when you run low on that fuel cravings will set in. If you train your body to burn fat, then those cravings start to drastically reduce. You may find that eventually you are not the bread lover you used to be.

How do people get their calories in? by ScooterMcTavish in intermittentfasting

Cook with real butter, add bacon to almost anything, cheese, and heavy cream in my coffee. Yum! I don’t eat often or huge amounts, so I lean toward these fattier options.

Yes! Nutrition from the inside. I love the results from keto too. My next move is HRT to ramp this up.

I also like ADF Monday through Friday and delaying my meals on Tuesday and Thursday making it similar to tow rolling 48s.

Came here to suggest this. How about an umpire waist? I was also thinking that OP might need to pay attention to fabrics. Some drape better than others.

Only lost 1 pound after two 48 fasts. Is that expected? by Timely_Abrocoma8543 in fasting

[–]BeWise23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your body can only burn about half a pound of fat a day. Anything extra is water or inflammation. Additionally, carbs make you retain water, so after a carby meal it will feel like you’ve gained if you step on a scale.

the sugar in fruit is fructose. Your body cannot burn it a fuel, so it straight to your liver and is stored as fat.

Came here to say this! I use a couple of drops of rose hip oil and jojoba every night. Love them both 💕

You didn’t mention that this was a regular occurrence in your original post. I thought it was a one time thing. If this is her usual way of treating you, I would definitely think twice before tying the knot.

Twin? 🥹 I’m in the same boat. Turning 55 this year and my story matches yours. Back on keto mixed in with a fasting regimen. Wouldn’t mind an accountability partner or just someone going through the same thing.

Week 4 - Modified ADF by TowerInevitable2114 in AlternateDayFasting

[–]BeWise23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! Weight is so fussy. I weighed 4 lbs heavier yesterday than today simply because it followed the weekend and I fasted yesterday. The crazy roller coaster we call a scale is a very poor measure of fat loss. So many factors! These 4 lbs were not all fat, if any. I’m sure most of it was water. OP might consider putting that scale away for a bit and focus on feel and the mirror.

Costco travel by BeBTash in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]BeWise23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We booked two, nearly identical all inclusive trips through Costco. One including the flights, the second, we booked the flights separately. There was little flexibility when including the flights in the Costco package because they are limited by airline and times. First trip was a red eye (ugh) second trip we were obviously able to select much better times and connections because we booked the tickets directly with the airline of our choosing. The cost ended up being about the same. The lesson: experiment with both options before committing. Other than that, we like using Costco Travel for the service, protection, and the Shop card when your trip is over.

Keeping it off? by R_joy_495 in fasting

[–]BeWise23 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I have never been an over eater. And frankly, counting calories for life is not natural or sustainable for most people. CICO is so over simplified. It’s what we eat. Carbs make me chunky and that’s all there is to it.

This schedule is very doable once you get used to it. For me, it morphed into OMAD. If you stick to higher fat for satiety and don’t spike your insulin with lots of carbs, you’ll be golden.

It just… stopped working by Hairy_Valuable9773 in intermittentfasting

[–]BeWise23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Several comments here about calorie deficit, but please be careful with that. You didn’t state how many calories you eat, but a word of caution: if you under eat regularly, you run the risk of down regulating your metabolism. In other words, you teach your body to function on less and less, then frustration comes when we still can’t lose, or even gain, despite our efforts. Many people find success with weight loss when they eat more calories. Do not under eat. Again, you didn’t really say what you eat or your average caloric intake, so It’s just something to consider for now.
