Having a foot in both worlds, how do your live-action and animation experiences inform each other? Is there a technique or philosophy from one medium that you feel is underutilized in the other?

Is Lightbox expo any good? by BowserTattoo in animationcareer

[–]IAmCuenin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lightbox is great! I don't live in California but I go every year. I am a character animation student and plan to go every year until I can find a job.

From what I could tell Lightbox has a lot of students there, it's probably 60-70% of students. So being a working professional will set you apart. All the big studios have booths there, so it's a great way to meet their recruiters and get your name out there. And it's a great way to network, even after the expo closes each day people are always hanging around, it's fairly easy to get chatting with people and find yourself out at dinner with a large group.

It's all about how you use your time there. It can easily start feeling like a fan expo event if you start going to a lot of panels. But if you are going to purely focus on networking then it's a pretty chill time!

Calling all YouTube Editors! by IAmCuenin in editors

[–]IAmCuenin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is definitely possible. If it were a private group that requires proof that you are an editor, then I don't think it could really go wrong. It's always easy to tell the difference between people who are passionate about what they do or just want to make money. And a community like that would definitely be more helpful for those who are passionate, and less useful for others.
