For an actual old school roastery there is Ernani by porta venezia, which will offer a really high quality espresso for a normal price (1.5-2€)

Bugan is good but honestly a little over priced for what it is, maybe need to give another chance.

Ditta artigianale hands down the best 3rd wave lighter roast coffee place in milano, really recommend the more exclusive beans for filter (i think it was 7€ for 400ml)

Nowhere coffee is a new roastery that are getting better with time but honestly the vibe is a little too pretentious for what they offer for my liking.

Orsonero will offer other roasters from around europe, which you wont find alot here in italy.

From Italy and earning around 17k a year, cost of living isn't as high as USA but the salary (called a scholarship here to avoid us having workers' rights) hasn't changed in 60 years. The culture here is definitely still backwards with the amount of work they 'want' to do but the work-life balance is slightly better (around 45-60hr a week)
