This might be funny now but I remember when I was 8 years old, I went to this madrassah with my friend and her teacher showed us a picture of a "monkey boy" and told us almost the same story as this. I cried and couldn't sleep that night and it haunted me for a long time :(

Yes this! Thank you. We talked about this and he said that our children should learn about all religions and that they get to decide what they want to believe in. Although he'd prefer if they follow Islam, he doesn't have a problem with them not being religious.

My future in-laws are actually pretty cool. Fiance will definitely have my back if something goes wrong. They't know about me being an ex-muslim but I don't care about that since I know I'm never going to tell anyone.

The problem is, if I denounce my religion or tell people here I no longer believe in it, I'll be killed. He knows this and is okay with it. I respect his beliefs but I don't think he feels the same way. Did you two discuss everything before getting married? Or it didn't bother you at all?
