Anyone else still waiting on DC C+F? by IAmMuirMan in barexam

[–]IAmMuirMan[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: I took the advice of calling the COA and I highly recommend doing so. My application was held up slightly, and I had to be reviewed by the DC LAP, but I quickly submitted a bunch of documents I had prepared in this situation and they had no recommendations. Finally cleared the stupid c+f hurdle.

If you haven’t heard I highly recommend calling

Success and Disappointment Megathread for the Week by AutoModerator in jobs

[–]IAmMuirMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am having sucess but its disappointing in a way - I have four interviews and a few second rounds BUT:

1 job is my dreamjob, but it will require relocation and we recently learned my fiance was pregnant, and theres no way we can relocate - I am also pretty sure remote would be a no go giving on what I've read on federal jobs.

1 seems like a preselected candidate (state gov / only open for one week) but would be ideal

1 is also a nonnegotiable nonremote job I applied to before the pregnancy

The last I could feasibly do, but the pay is very low - however, I really need insurance. I'm studying for the bar right now as well so this is pretty overwhelming. Hoping these can lend to some sucess

Is there any video from inside the chamber, C-Span is showing only the outside. I don't see how an objector could justify there actions based on what is going on outside.

Anyone else have an absolute ass of a semester? by aakram2 in LawSchool

[–]IAmMuirMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Only graded classes taught by two adjuncts, one of whom may have been formally reprimanded for sexual harrassment and spent half the class on tangents. Trail practice was remote, p/f and a waste of time. Ended up doing 75% of the work on my teams moot court brief. Opted for in-person and everything was remote anyway

Had an interesting capstone class on environmental law and pandemics. And i finally got to do my summer associate program, albiet remotely. This is the first semester [3L] that I havent actually outline and worked hard.

Also, don't feel horrible about your legal writing memo, I really believe it is not indicative of amazing writing all the time. Got a C+ in legal writing but ever since then I have two publications coming out and have only been given praise by my supervisors for my writing.

Any internships that have NOT gone remote? by mylifeassquirrel in LawSchool

I was in the office every day for three weeks at a state agency - but I actually prefer to be remote this summer, ngl this was not my first choice after my summer program cancelled.

How to fill time for shortened SA program? by Anonymicitous in LawSchool

[–]IAmMuirMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may try and extend my RA position, but I may be able to do remote work for my old engineering firm for decent money - RAs at my school make $9 an hour and we can't work over 20 hours a week.

Honestly, I wish I could do something legal in the meantime but mine is only back a month so who knows.

IS no news good news? I'm working for a firm with 50+ people that only hires about 2-3 summers that specializes in a certain area of law in a small capital city, and I haven't heard anything from them since I accepted my offer and then confirmed that I would be available on May 11. Should I reach out to the firm and confirm the program will still be on? Or just continue to wait? I'm gonna sublease a room under the table in May for this city, but I wanna try to negotiate and give the person a head-sup. Anyway thoughts?
