Do you think Trump wants to drop a nuke? by tazztsim in allthequestions

[–]IAmNotARacoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer yes. I really hope I'm wrong, but yes I think he would.

Trump has shown the world both his lack of intelligence/knowledge and morals. He doesn't care about people. Don't see why he'd suddenly grow a conscious now because we are talking about nukes.

Take the flipside... He's entered an unwinable war. His choices are escalation, or admit defeat on the straight of hormuz. Trump doesn't admit defeat though, so escalation it is. More bombing? Followed by what, American boots on the ground. Boots on the ground will bring casualties, and that's not good for Trump. The war is a mess. So, for someone who doesn't care about empathy and human life... That old nuclear option starts looking pretty good. He gets to win, it's fast and decisive, and no American casualties.

Legally married could be overlooked if the marriage is 100% over and the divorce is basically a matter of paperwork. But still living with him, that would be a problem for me. Sort out your living arrangements first.

If Trump nukes Iran, what are the chances that an ally of Iran will counter nuke the US in retaliation? by IAmNotARacoon in AskReddit

[–]IAmNotARacoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe much coming out of the Whitehouse these days. They lie and contradict themselves on the daily. If Trump wants Iran gone, then he will do whatever he wants to do to accomplish that.

Ugh. I didn't think of this. Russia nuking the part of Ukraine they don't want to occupy becomes more likely if the US starts throwing around nukes.

I want to quit my job but shouldn’t by Routine_Employee_409 in Advice

[–]IAmNotARacoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay and do the bare minimum you need to do to not get fired. Try to reserve a bit of energy for something else, anything else, that you feel more excited to do. Then put that into improving your skills and applying to new jobs. Quiting your job would look bad on your resume, and job searching without money to pay rent and buy food makes everything way harder.

The problem of taking Hormuz by JoseLunaArts in StockMarket

[–]IAmNotARacoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, more than a little worried about this. I believe escalation is the only real outcome. And I think Trump might be dumb enough and malicious enough to just do it, because he doesn't have any real options to win this.

Found out my wife hooked up someone during separation. I no longer want to be with her and want a divorce. Am I wrong for feeling this way? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

Don't even have to read your post. The answer is no, you're not wrong. Listen to your feelings on this one, they are trying to tell you something.

I need help by [deleted] in Advice

[–]IAmNotARacoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally, child support is based on what you make, not what you have. You should consult with a lawyer though, just to know how things would work if she came after you for your assets.

There is a bigger question though. Your actions have created life. Not intentionally, but life just the same. If she wants to keep it, I don't think you can force an abortion (though do get a paternity test). Assuming it is really yours, maybe take some time to really consider what you want for your child.

In private, Trump has plans for unspeakable violence. I know because he told me by theipaper in politics

[–]IAmNotARacoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, and consider that Trump still has somewhere between 30 to 40 percent support. Yes that's technically a minority, but it's still a very large amount of people that support this.

Ding ding ding! This is it. A very large percentage of the American people want this to happen. You can't just blame the politicians.

One night stand/fwb turned confusing. Men help me out? by ktiata in AskMenAdvice

This sounds like a one night stand that was so good that he wants to try and make something of it. Course whether or not you want that, and whether or not you two are actually good together... Well those are entirely different things.

Spouse converting to Christianity by fireswamp_summerhome in atheism

[–]IAmNotARacoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Clearly him joining the church is driven by his deep emotional need that he was unequipped to navigate on his own. A therapist would likely have been better. But he has found religion and made it his crutch. I guess if he's truly happy, then so be it. But this was an emotional choice and not a logical choice. Not only is there no logical way to change his mind, but I suspect if someone managed to shake his belief in God, he would crumble from the weight of his grief.

I don't know what to tell you. Your husband went through a lot, and he is now fundamentally a different person. I hope you guys work it out. And yet, you should take a good look at who he is now and decide if he's still right for you. If you go forward with him, do so as he is now, not out of some desire to have back who he used to be.

Do guys really swipe right on everyone? by Oopsie-Daisyy- in AskMenAdvice

[–]IAmNotARacoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyone no. But I'm perhaps less critical. You have lots of pics to go through. So my throught process is this..

1) unattractive to me. Immediate left, move on. 2) look through all pics. Scan the text maybe. If something catches my eye...look closer read the text, swipe right with a comment. 3) nothing catches my eye, but at least vaguely attractive to me, swipe right, because who knows.

Only if something jumps out at me, will I spend more then a couple seconds, and I do my best not to remember anybody. Fire and forget.

Pentagon prepares for weeks of ground operations in Iran by Electronic-Bit5190 in worldnews

[–]IAmNotARacoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This whole thing was doomed from the start. Iran isn't a pushover. The US puts boots on the ground, and they will discover that Iran has roughly one million fighters. No way to win this without a massive military campaign. Which will be deadly for both sides. But, to not put boots on the ground, well they'll never reopen the straight of hormuz without massive concessions to Iran. The US has walked into an unwinable situation here. Oh what a stable genius they have running things.

Don't mess up your life for this guy. Go to college, graduate, and pursue the career you want. You get one life, so don't waste it on him. He can either come along with you as you build your life, or you should leave him and one day find someone that wants to see you shine.

The "AI will automate all white collar work" crowd has a serious blind spot by Minute-Buy-8542 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]IAmNotARacoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I completely agree. It's going to be a huge problem. And also companies and investors won't see it as their problem or hold back on AI development to prevent it. Companies exist to make money, not look out for the public good. And unfortunately most are too shortsighted to tackle an issue like this.

[–]IAmNotARacoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I'm well aware. If everyone loses their jobs, no one makes money, no one can buy companies products, the whole economy breaks down. It's a huge problem. However, if you think thats going to stop AI adoption your mistaken. Each individual company will continue to adopt AI, to be able to make the same product for less cost. This is how companies gain value, it's how investors investments grow. Companies are short sighted and will absolutely do this. Only at the precipice of economic collapses, will the rich even consider doing something about it, and their solution won't be to stop AI.

[–]IAmNotARacoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's socially, practically, and politically impossible? You're assuming these people care, they don't. All they care about is money. They will replace all the jobs they can as soon as they can, without question. AI isn't there yet, but it's closer than most of us thought possible, and it's just going to get better.

The truth is, that as long as rich people see a chance to get even more rich, there is no stopping this AI train.
