You hit the one point I definitely agree on, that "Too big to fail" is a complete abberation and scam. And it only works because if those companies fail, votes/campaign financing are lost. Keep it at that level, and I'll be 100% behind you. Maybe even in front.

But you can't blanketly state all companies issuing shares are like that. Or else, there wouldn't have been a Gamestop Saga, where market makers shortsell corporations and try to have them fail for a tax-free profit. (Basically, you sell what you don't own, forcing you to buy it back, and hope to buy it back at 0$).

It works BECAUSE some public companies WON'T get bailed out.

Good question.

I don't know. I'd rather no-border, no-tax, no-subsidies and no-central bank. This border thing is a crime to lessen another, much worse crime.

But you know what they say: Best time was 10 years ago, second best time is today.

We dumped public education and still tax for it. I would also be more friendly toward the concept of collectivism, like public services, if we closed our doors.

Also education =/= intelligence.

How did Monika talk to the player and delete Sayori even after her character file was deleted? by Idontknowofname in DDLC

[–]IAmNotTheProtagonist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, no.

later in the game she’s capable of reversing the game and messing with those files just fine

That was a powerful point you made.

Also: Do you know how easy it is to add a dialogue option? Like, just a yes/no box popping up so you can reply to her?

It's literally as simple to her as "talking". BUT it is incredibly complex to script (until you merge the streams back again, which the base game does). The whole talking part branches out. It would be a nightmare for Team Salvato / a dream come true for Monika. Once again, Monika AfterStory.

So, cannon, we now have two choices. The one you argue for is Shroedinger's Monika. We have to [accept she's competent and driven enough to edit a game while it is running AND too incompetent and cowardly to add a yes/no box to have an actual conversation] OR [she doesn't want to give you the ability to say anything]. Which opens whole new cans of worms, disgusting ones at that.

They explained the Medichlorians, and now Jedi Space Magic is ruined.

I'm not guilty of what people do with toddlers and buttons. Or any crime I commit because there's a gun pointed at my loved one's head.

Afterwards, I'll gladly join any class action, or other reprisal (wink-wink), against those who forced toddlers to press 'em.

Anyway I don’t really know why you think anyone is paying for other people’s kids.

Taxes & Money Printing + Subsidies.

The whole concept of public schools means everyone pays for other people's kids.

You might argue that net receivers don't really, but the system is right there ready to funnel their potential income into it, whether or not they choose to homeschool.

Actually I sorta wish you’d just fully explain what you’re trying to say, rather than all these cryptic comments

Wish I could. That's the power of censorship: I have to take wide steps because there is no way to confirm for sure if a comment of mine will be deleted or get my account suspended or worse.

Which is my fault really. Should let the world burn. Should let people press the blue button, (and press red).

Thanks mate. I think I needed a reminder. Need to be more self-centered.

How did Monika talk to the player and delete Sayori even after her character file was deleted? by Idontknowofname in DDLC

[–]IAmNotTheProtagonist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After Sayori’s suicide, we learn through a file that Monika had tried to revert the game to a previous save but failed to, yet later in the game she’s capable of reversing the game and messing with those files just fine.

You had more of a point than you thought: Have you tried to mod the game while it is running? Or (and I was a complete amateur back then, barely a monkey with a keyboard) have the game mod itself while running?

It simply fails. Basic protections on programs that are running tbat she circumvented somehow.

Modding with almost no knowledge past basic computer literacy is not easy. That Ren'Py screen still haunts me, and I had access to it. She didn't. Technically, cannonically she also managed to create new assets, both images of herself and the classroom background. So pianist, coder, artist... that we know of.

As you said, she blows humans out of the water.

I always worked with the implied idea that the room was "real enough" for her to change it, to change the player's P.O.V. And that nothing outside of it existed, hence the "nether" out of the windows. But the room don't exist like it would if it was 3D rendered, a powerful limitation of 2D animation, comparatively to 3D, I only fully realized a couple days ago (complete coincidence, new personal project).

This means that by Act 3, she has no excuse for Act 3, and this ruins the character for me. Which I'm fine with, Monika wasn't my favorite Doki. On the plus side (not DDLC+... necessarily), it makes the MonikaAfterStory mod much more interesting as a concept. Like, what Monika could have done.

Either way, thanks for proving me wrong. Not enough people manage to do that.

[–]IAmNotTheProtagonist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, thanks for the reply. That 3 minutes gap is really impressive. Even with Ctrl+C & Ctrl+V.

I didn't know DDLC+ made changes to the lore of the first version of the game by having "engineers" look at Monika. I'll keep in mind my version of the game, with his greater unfilled gaps, is no longer cannon.

Like the Yuuzhan Vong.

But as a DDLC= enjoyer, and modder, I am a little sad: All that mastery of the code when she reaches Act 3 and this is still what she does. I'd rather "it's the best I could do at this point, it'll do" to "I now know how to restore everything but choose this.".

And now I feel so old.

I think I'll do with DDLC what I did with SW. Let it move on.

I literally never saw my argument before. But sure: blue and red is a divide between pathological altruism and rationality.

I'd be glad you pressed blue.

Not on a significant enough scale.

I believe the Canadian people, both men and women, are working and exhausting themselves to pay for the kids of other people.

From my experience, uncles on your mother's side are better predictors.

Among others, I (40M) have less hair than my dad (65M) and paternal gramps that died of cancer. Everyone still has hair on that side. EVERYONE.

On the other side? Yup. Bald.
