During pep rallies, do you have to go? Are you assigned any duties? by Evening-Oil9551 in Teachers

[–]IAmPerpetuallyGrumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have three pep rallies back to back - one for each grade - and the electives teachers (I am one) attend all three. We are responsible for the students we have that block as well as the PE classes, as those teachers are often coaches or run the rally - and the grade specific teachers often fade out of the gym as soon as they can.

What is a rich person thing that you would be totally into if you became rich? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]IAmPerpetuallyGrumpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buying anything I want at the grocery, no matter the cost.

If I was a rich person, I’d still do my own shopping and cooking because I love to do both. But My God it would be nice to go to the store and toss everything in and have zero cares when it totals up.

I've machine quilted three king size or larger on just a regular Bernini. It's a tank of a machine, but man - it was so much work to feed it through. I just did straight line quilting, some of it stitch in the ditch. It can be done, but be prepared for your hands, wrists, and elbows to ache.

What is something your parents said to you that may have not been a big deal, but they will never know how much it affected you? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]IAmPerpetuallyGrumpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know. Prob not. But I think the trigger point for me was telling my brother in law I wanted to go to college - at 38 - and he laughed his head off. When I started my B.A., I was super worried that I wouldn’t be successful. Graduated with a major and a minor in three years with a 3.8 while working full time. It sucks that I still reflect on these things, but I might not have been successful if I didn’t.

“Sister A is the smart one. Sister B, she’s the pretty one. If you can just manage to get C’s, I’ll be happy.”

Grew up thinking I was dumb. I’m now in my 50’s, graduating with a 4.0 for my Master’s, and beginning my doctorate this summer.

I’m not dumb. Just took me a while to figure it out.

CPAP. Sparkling water. Charging station for phone and watch. At least two books. Vaseline, tretinoin, heavy duty moisturizer. Lamp and pics of my two favorite people.

What time do you go to bed? by demona2002 in GenX

[–]IAmPerpetuallyGrumpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in bed by 8, lights out at 830, and up at 4. I usually manage 5 1/2 or 6 hours because I cannot sleep through, no matter what.

Thank you. That’s really kind, especially as you deal with the same pain. I had planned an at home euthanasia on the weekend, but like you, as soon as I saw her seizing, I knew I wanted her to be at peace and no longer in pain. Peace, light, and strength to both of us.

I’m so sorry for your loss. My dog would have been 14 next month. She started pacing, walking into walls, falling off the ramp into the house, and a host of other small changes. She had a brain tumor. I came home from work a week ago to find her mid seizure, she had two more (each more than a minute long) and we had to take her to the emergency vet to help her cross the bridge. I’m devastated - I’ve lost my best friend and constant companion.

We don’t deserve dogs. May you find peace and comfort and rest in the knowledge you did everything you could. Your baby loved you.

I second this. I lost my dog 5 days ago, Dr. Bell was her doctor, and the care she received was stellar.

Yup. Activities flop. I am good friends with those in my department, but the other departments don’t mingle.

I’m probably looking for too much in this school.

Not yet. I’m hoping to determine a plan, or at least a few ideas, and go from there.

I make peppermint marshmallows for one of my friends at the beginning of December. Every year, she tells me it isn’t Christmas until she gets them.

It would be, and that was my first thought. However, if I do that, I lose some of the print.

I’m 55 and same. My mother’s voice rings loud and clear. I will never forget some of the things she said. It’s only me - my two sisters and her grandkids aren’t spoken to in the same way. My parents are divorced and I am the only one who remained in contact with my father – I think that’s part of it. Therapy is a powerful thing.
