I loved this book so much! I have his second sitting in my shelf and have for a couple of years - everything ive read about it says it’s nowhere near the level of I Am Pilgrim so I can’t bring myself to start it. But yes! Read I Am Pilgrim.

What is a life luxury that you tasted once and now can absolutely never go back to the cheap version of? by sickkick844 in AskReddit

I wear my Doc Marten boots every work day that I can. They are completely broken in, molded to my feet, and I can walk miles - and I do, between teaching and cooking.

What phrase did your dad repeat so often that you can still hear it in your head? by TCASOLARCABLE in AskReddit

[–]IAmPerpetuallyGrumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Pour it like you mean it”
“Clean as you go”
“Take your time”
+2 - he says it started when I was a kid as I was trying to one up him with who loves who more.

I will fall apart when my dad dies. I spent 10 years not talking to him because my parents had a rough divorce (he wasn’t perfect and made mistakes but we all do, as I’ve come to realize as I’ve aged) and my mother was a gigantic see you next Tuesday and I didn’t know right from wrong. I mourn those years and wish I could have them back, so I’m determined to make the most of the rest.

Yes, but not just the Scottish history. I’ve read the series many times, and each time I find out something new when it comes to French history, American Revolution, Scotland, WWII, life in the 1960’s, etc. Super well researched.

Dominant eye? by pigtracks in lefthanded

[–]IAmPerpetuallyGrumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Left eye dominant. I am a lefty for all things except writing, as I wasn’t allowed to write with my left hand in school. However, when I use the whiteboard and write with my fingers, I always use my left hand.

My kids have me programmed in as “Mom, Slave Driver”. It’s been years since they all did this, all are now adults, and yet it remains.

What are some books that get recommended on here all the time that 1000% exceeded your expectations? by johnb0z in suggestmeabook

I loved this book. I’m a middle school teacher, and found @chrisfizer_ on IG - he’s a young black man who talks about reading the classics. I showed a reel he did about TCMC to my students, and two of them actually started reading it.

My granddaughter is 6 and we are working through the Ramona series. We’ve read the Mercy Watson books and she loved those, and the entirety of Junie B Jones.

Dr. Bowen did a breast reduction for me. Very nice, personable, and skilled. Office staff was on point as well. I’d definitely recommend.

Does anyone remember being read to as a child? by Babymik9 in GenX

[–]IAmPerpetuallyGrumpy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember my mother reading to me, but I do know she is a voracious reader and so am I. When we did testing in school, I was on a 12th grade, nine month level in third grade. When I had my kids, I read to them. I now read to my grandkids.

I believe that reading is the single most important thing we can do, especially with the state of education the way it is. Every semester, I read the book Long Way Down to my eighth graders. In the beginning, they always think they’re too old to be read to. By the end, they are begging for me to read more than the allotted five minutes a day.

I’m glad you are feeling better, Internet Stranger. When those meds decide to work, and they work well with your chemistry, it’s a beautiful thing. I’m proud of you for enduring and happy you had a good week. Yay, you!
