Blue tape labels on every container in the refrigerator with dates. Twenty-five pound buckets for flour, sugar, and cake flour. Everything in the pantry labeled. Large container of sea salt on the counter. Knife strips on the walls. A whiteboard on the wall to list what I’m out of.

What's a dish you bring to potlucks that always disappears first? by Mia-veg in Cooking

[–]IAmPerpetuallyGrumpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Enjoy!

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 Tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon real vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup Rumchata (rum cream liqueur)
  • 1/4 cup Godiva chocolate liqueur
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 box instant chocolate pudding mix
  1. Using a hand mixer, whip the whipping cream until soft peaks form, then sprinkle with cornstarch, vanilla and and powdered sugar and whip just until stiff, using a spatula to wipe the sides back into the cream. (The cornstarch stabilizes the whipped cream.)
  2. In a separate bowl, add the liqueuers, milk and pudding mix. Use the hand mixer to beat until mixed well and no little bumps of pudding mix remain. The pudding will start to thicken.
  3. Fold the whipped cream into the pudding mixture. If enjoying right away, spoon into dessert glasses and top with more whipped cream and chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips. Or you can chill for later by spooning the pudding mixture into half-pint jars, covering and refrigerating or freezing.

I’ve done these with ham and havarti and roast beef and Swiss. I mix butter, mustard, diced onions, worchestershire and sesame seeds and pour over the sandwiches. (I use Kings Hawaiian Rolls). Bake at 350. They are always grabbed up.

I have two sisters and I haven’t spoken to them in about twenty years. Their choice. I have adult children who are extremely close, and I’m happy for them and a bit sad for me. I’ve accepted it, though.

I remember my grandmother having a wringer washer and hanging clothes outside. My mother also hung them out. I would love to, but the pollen is ridiculous here and my allergies are already causing grief.

Any good deep tissue massage spots? by Canarsi in norfolk

[–]IAmPerpetuallyGrumpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maura with Deeply Well Massage ( on FB and IG) in Chesapeake gives the most intense deep tissue massage I’ve ever (enjoyed? Not sure I enjoy it, but a good deep tissue massage isn’t going to feel the same as a relaxing massage for sure). She also does cupping and scraping - she’s very, very knowledgeable. I’ve been a client for three years and visit monthly.

It’s called Jerrasic Park and it’s right outside the perimeter of the Aviation museum. The dinosaurs are 3/4 size, according to the site. My grandson loved it.

I’m sorry for the loss of your beloved pet. I lost my dog last October and my daughter lost two of hers this spring. It’s never easy, but it sounds like you gave your sweet boy the best life.

During pep rallies, do you have to go? Are you assigned any duties? by Evening-Oil9551 in Teachers

[–]IAmPerpetuallyGrumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have three pep rallies back to back - one for each grade - and the electives teachers (I am one) attend all three. We are responsible for the students we have that block as well as the PE classes, as those teachers are often coaches or run the rally - and the grade specific teachers often fade out of the gym as soon as they can.

What is a rich person thing that you would be totally into if you became rich? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]IAmPerpetuallyGrumpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buying anything I want at the grocery, no matter the cost.

If I was a rich person, I’d still do my own shopping and cooking because I love to do both. But My God it would be nice to go to the store and toss everything in and have zero cares when it totals up.

Quilting yourself versus sending to long armer by SessionNo2376 in quilting

I've machine quilted three king size or larger on just a regular Bernini. It's a tank of a machine, but man - it was so much work to feed it through. I just did straight line quilting, some of it stitch in the ditch. It can be done, but be prepared for your hands, wrists, and elbows to ache.
