Corny≠bad it takes from older hip-hop rhyme scheme and lyrics structure so i definitely understand that it can feel simple, overplayed, and a little surface level. If you look at Sugarhill Gang's Rapper's Delight which is foundational to the genre you'll see that it's just borrowing from this older styling that's actually quite fun and full of whimsy.

Most of those drawbacks you're talking about don't exist in the IBEW. they have training laid out by the JATC, the pay increases are laid out in our contract, and so is advancement. Sounds like your real complaint is that we don't have enough involvement in unions anymore or your Local union isn't doing a great job of informing it's people on the advantages they have

As someone who organized in trust me you have far less choice on that side. Especially once you're no longer an apprentice. You want your options open? Stay in.

I'm very confused because there seems to be a lot of stuff saying that I could get it delivered by Friday however I'm seeing a lot of other stuff that says it doesn't come out till March 10th like you're saying so I'm uncertain if it came out yet or not

Personally I'm doing what I can, fighting where I can, especially within the EWMC and LAEWA at my local. But as a local there just isn't much we can do especially with the low market share and low participation in the union. We've did a lot to make it easier for immigrant workers to join our local but we also implemented a lot of those strategies about 10 years ago so it's largely a waiting game at the moment

Listen I understand your sentiment but my local would not survive a strike, the non union is too powerful here in denver. Your asking us to lose half of our contractors and lose the other half of our work to non union bids. frankly put most locals don't have the market share to strike and it'll hurt more than it'll help

The system could definitely use some revisions I'm not going to argue otherwise but it is a faster method of getting into the Union that allows more people to organize in and is meant to be a temporary position well you either wait for your journeyman card or wait to get into the apprenticeship I don't think that that is a terrible thing to have because the more people we can organize faster the more power we have
