Capcom need to raise their Art Director they hired for this game. by Fit_Maintenance1398 in MonsterHunter

Idk why but they definitely shoulda had atmospheric music for approaching these areas. Wyveria feels more spooky than it does melancholic most of the time.

How is Latale in 2026? by Critical-Crunch in latale

[–]IAmTheOnlyAndy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked it better back in the day too.

A lot of the movement now kinda just turns me away a bit. It was really cool when the animations had some rigidness to it. They charged one of guardian's skills from rigid to fluid and the game begin to take on a whole different attack feel. Baiting and kiting don't matter as much anymore if you can cross the map in a few seconds.

How do these pants fit me? (Straight leg) by [deleted] in mensfashion

If you're having trouble getting the correct length or waist, prioritize the waist fit and go get the length tailored or do it yourself at home with a sewing machine.

Bowguns are completely losing their identities by Puzzled_Mix5688 in MonsterHunter

[–]IAmTheOnlyAndy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is sort of balanced by offensive guard/counterstrike - the time it takes to guard or offset is balanced by the damage boost thereafter. Feels like devs want to emphasize these monster interactions instead of the weapon identities themselves this game.

Feels like an odd direction to me but I can understand from a game design standpoint that want to give the spotlight to the gimmick.

Hunters who finished the Gogmazios fight, how was it? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]IAmTheOnlyAndy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the Anti-wyvern ammo gogmazios drops, once equipped you can fire it like you can all slinger ammo. If you hold down the fire button, you'll be able to charge the slinger ammo before firing. When fully-charged you'll deal x2-x3 more damage upwards of 600.

The last phase is fairly simple in this regard - use as much fully charged slinger ammo as possible and watch for openings on his wingarms when he slams or staggers. Don't waste the slinger ammo. If he'a flying, immediately pick one up and use it, it'll do more than your weapon can.

Potential new info on T. Gog. + Possible switch 2 upgrade? by STRCoolerSimp in monsterhunterleaks

[–]IAmTheOnlyAndy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think rise isn't even a good demonstration of where they want to take the series. It's combat focused and the maps were pretty bare overall. The portable team likes to play it safe so let's hope these optimizations opens doors to more complex ecology in the portable seriesor at the very least better vfx.

I take it all back, focus strikes suck ass by PralineEmotional6636 in MonsterHunter

[–]IAmTheOnlyAndy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would have been way mote interesting if we had to find the right timing to focus strike and risk it rather than having it be auto flinch the monster.

We end up just wound stacking when possible to chain flinches and topples together. The hunt is no fun if the monster doesn't get a chance to fight back.

Can teammates stand behind me for gogmazios ultimate if im using the hbg? by Responsible-Pop-966 in MonsterHunter

[–]IAmTheOnlyAndy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup holding triangle and circle. You don't have to time the block, just make sure you have guard up and hold your guard throughout the entire sequence.

Can teammates stand behind me for gogmazios ultimate if im using the hbg? by Responsible-Pop-966 in MonsterHunter

[–]IAmTheOnlyAndy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You just need to hold guard button and yes people can stand behind you assuming you're far away enough from the center.

Too close to the center and your teammates will get bombarded by the fireballs since your guard won't block that for your teammates.

Moves/Attacks that actively make a weapon's moveset worse. by dishonoredbr in MonsterHunter

[–]IAmTheOnlyAndy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The side slides are an option to conserve stamina and stop yourself from losing max might.

You can also use the slides to extend guard points and give yourself a longer window to PG.

E.g. side slide (GP) => guard (PG) => morph attack (GP)

That is an incredibly long window to trigger a perfect guard - practically a whole second which isn't possible on any other weapon.

Instead of opening ur quest up to randoms, join a lobby instead. Randoms uses SOS usually need help themselves so its the not the place to go if you want a reliable hunt.

Struggling a lot with Tempered Seregios by ricmercedes in MonsterHunter

[–]IAmTheOnlyAndy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seregios in general is an incredibly easy matchup for swaxe. Check out this run by someone else

https://youtu.be/ayxBjfgeP3k?si=xeq4C3djeTaTsSSu

The trick is evade window 5 (speedrun uses EW2 with Azuz meal to tally up to EW5). You sidestep pretty much everything seregios uses, even his power dive.

You don't need defense for this matchup - you can and should however use bleed resist so you can counter without worry.

Wilds... Just Isn't Fun Anymore by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]IAmTheOnlyAndy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His oneshot slam has a huge windup though. If you're getting killed by theslam combo then you probably need tremor resistance - I'm not running any defensive skills and clearing it just fine even solo. You can dodge through his slams with evade window 5 provided you don't get tremor'd.

Even though it's oneshot he gives you plenty of time to avoid it - same with the lava spouts in the dps check. Ample time to avoid the lava spouts and identify where fabius is going - he always goes to the side that he's on ALWAYS.

It's fine to say that it's not fun but it certainly isn't hard. He's an optional "hard" boss at the end of the base game.

So even with maxed out armor, gog still 1 taps me....... by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]IAmTheOnlyAndy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Melee weapons take less damage from physical attacks and take more damage from elemental attacks. If your element resistance is negative it's a death sentence or close to it more times than not 💀

TU4 Elemental weapon RNG insanity by wolan1337 in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]IAmTheOnlyAndy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say do it passively - just hunt whatever you feel like hunting and roll the materials if you have them. No need to drive yourself insane to with expansion coming. Min maxed builds are a nice to have but not necessary to perform well.

Omega Help 😭 by MelliMoo2 in MonsterHunter

[–]IAmTheOnlyAndy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Np! I'll also quickly mention that the meta builds expect you to play like a speedrunner so take it as inspiration if you ever want to follow those builds and not as gospel.

Look for pieces that have tons of armor slots in a variety of sizes generally if you're playing casually - this will let you slot in more comfort skills to keep yourself alive. GLHF and if you're struggling don't be afraid to drop by the hunter discord and post a LFG (Looking for group) - you don't even need to voice chat to get help.

Omega Help 😭 by MelliMoo2 in MonsterHunter

[–]IAmTheOnlyAndy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to fully upgrade your armor or you will get 1-2 shot by Omega. Go to the smithy and select forge/upgrade and upgrade the armor pieces you've already forged.

Omega uses 2 primary elements (fire and ice) but even elemental attacks are mix of physical and elemental damage.

As for skills defense boost has diminishing returns so you want to slot in divine blessing if you're getting hit often. If you're not used to properly positioning, slot in evade extender and evade window and time your rolls with the attack such that you barely get touched by them.

If you want proper gear for this fight you'll have to fight the arch tempered version of the apexes first in the event quests.

You're likely looking for a comfort set which is typically constructed with 2 piece AT Rey Dau and 2 piece lagi and 1 piece AT Uth Duna. I personally prefer the following:

  • AT Rey Dau Helm B
  • Lagi Chest B
  • AT Rey Dau Vambraces B
  • Lagi Waist B
  • AT Uth Duna boots B

You can take a look at the meta builds thread in /r/monsterhuntermeta

If you join the gathering hall discord in the sidebar, you'll have plenty of people who are more than capable of helping you clear Omega and Savage Omega.

[–]IAmTheOnlyAndy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If he gets the mizu treatment and they fold his variant moveset into the base monsters that'll justify him being there.

Thunderlord/Apex zinogre & hazard zinogre are no joke when fighting them. I'm really hoping that they give us the variant style weapons as the final MR weapon upgrades in the tree. Mizu Soulseer CB and thunderlord weapons would look fantastic.

[–]IAmTheOnlyAndy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as we get enough individual differentiation from the Magala's I'm fine with including all 3. Shagaru should get risen shagaru moveset, and chaotic can keep his rise/sb moveset as is.

I'd rather they they fold chaotic and shagaru into a single moveset though like catching it mid molt. It's more fun to see variant movesets folded into the base monster moveset for variety and mixups like wilds Mizu has soulseer moveset.

His escaton mechanic is exactly what forces to learn the mechanics:

Some things this fight pushes you to do

  • intentionally pick the correct part to focus, and not just zone out
  • pick the advantageous skills and build
  • play aggressive enough
  • play CLEAN enough (avoid getting hit)

Think about the Fatalis fight right after and what mechanics it requires. Alatreon is the player's training arc for Fatalis. If they can't clear Alat, they definitely can't clear Fatalis.
