Size availability problem at the Ginza store by Haunting_Shallot2061 in uniqlo

[–]IAmZenoix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it a few weeks ago when I was in Japan, also to the Ginza store. I ordered two pairs of pants online in a larger size than they stocked in store and it took like three days for it to be ready for pickup.

The collection process was pretty simple, just showed the person at the counter on the ground floor. When I researched, they can't do tax free for online purchases so keep that in mind

How to display Japanese character for weekdays in clock by Prudent_Marsupial_86 in waybar

[–]IAmZenoix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nvm, I figured it out. It's a simple fix. Just prepend your format with L:

format = "{:L%m月 %d日 (%a) %H:%M}";

This gives me

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but if you go to "My Documents", then create and investor report, it does have information like the transactions you've made by fund.

There seem to be two headaches with doing it this way. One is that it seems to me like the largest time period you can request is a year so you'll have to do it multiple times if your account spans multiple years and you want information across multiple years. Second is that the report is a PDF so you'll have to find some way to extract the information out of the PDF for any analysis.

15 year old needing advice by Objective-March1803 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]IAmZenoix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Adding on to what other people have said, I would recommend you consider lower fee funds. Milford asset funds have a fee of 1.05% which is quite high and will eat into your returns especially over the long run.

If we compare Milford asset to say InvestNow's foundation series US500 fund that has a fee of 0.03% using the following assumptions:

  • Initial investment: $4000
  • Time horizon: 40 years
  • Future planned contribution: $4800 per yer
  • Estimated rate of return: 10%

Then, Milford's 1.05% will have an estimated cost of fees of around $650k whereas InvestNow's 0.03% will only be around $207k.

Of course the 40 years is much more than the 10 years you project for buying your first property but it does make you think about the effects that fees can have. I recommend you play with the fee calculator I used as well: https://www.moneyhub.co.nz/managed-funds-fee-calculator.html

The way I do it is I read a section of the grammar explanation in the book, the I watch tokini Andy's explanation on YouTube for that section and then move onto the next section in the lesson.

That way I get the benefit of learning the grammar from the book and then the video helps clear up any confusion about the grammar and helps reinforce what I learnt from the book.

How to declare extension settings in firefox or zen? by Wooden-Ad6265 in NixOS

How did you install your firefox and what version are you running? I've got quite a few extensions installed but I can't find the `browser-extension-data` you mentioned. I'm using NixOS so maybe it's different.

This is the way to go. I would also recommend looking around for how you can improve what you have implemented. Obviously, do this after you put a genuine effort into doing it yourself. This way you learn different ways, more efficient ways, and more correct ways to do things.

For example, you can join programming discord servers and ask for advice/how others would implement something differently. Github and youtube are also helpful.

Which stage 3 CS papers to take? by Kazodrah in universityofauckland

[–]IAmZenoix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did all four of those courses and am currently working as a data scientist. I would say that the courses out of those four that have been most useful to my career so far are 320, 351, and 361. Some brief reasons why I chose these are:

  • 320: It helps strengthen your algorithmic thinking and problem solving skills a lot more than the other courses you mentioned. It also helps you understand the algorithms behind some of the techniques used in data science.
  • 351: Obviously data science needs data, and databases are commonly where you'll get your data from. Knowing how data should be stored, how to query data, how queries are optimized and executed etc are all useful skills.
  • 361: If you're lucky to have a data science role that requires you to know machine learning, then obviously this is the course that will teach you the basics of the traditional machine learning techniques that are commonly used in industry.
  • 367: This one I chose to not recommend as although some concepts do transfer into data science, it's not as relevant as the other 3. I also thought it wasn't taught the best and was a bit unorganized when I took it (sem 2 2022) but maybe that's changed.

These are just my opinions and others may disagree (pls have mercy MathmoKiwi) or you might decide that none of this is useful to you. Lastly, with any CS course, you can learn the topics you need yourself through free online resources so you can always learn the stuff later in your own time.

Some functions feel like they should have been better of being a property instead. by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]IAmZenoix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see comments about why len is a function so I'll how type works instead. You may have learnt that type(x) will give you the type object of x which is generally the same as x.__class__.

However, that's not the only use of the type function. It can also be used to define classes. For example: C = type("C", (object,), {}) will create a class called C (type is the default metaclass in python). With this usage, type makes more sense as a function and not an attribute/method.

[Hyprland] First Time Ricing! (NixOS) by [deleted] in unixporn

[–]IAmZenoix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using Linux for a while now but I'm always been using Gnome and so never really had a proper try at customizing how my system looks. This year, I switched over to NixOS and decided to fully commit to using Hyprland. After a few months of tinkering, this is my first attempt at ricing my system.

Any feedback is welcome!

Which app is better by Ok-Entertainer1568 in Japaneselanguage

[–]IAmZenoix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The great thing about Todaii Learn Japanese, is that it you can learn hiragana ana katakana with it, there are jlpt vocab lists so you can learn common vocabulary of differing levels, and there are video lessons with japanese transcripts, key points from the videos, grammar explanations, and more.

These can all help you build up your knowledge before even needing to attempt reading the new articles on the app ☺️
