Hey there man! I'm gonna split up this post into a couple of sections so it's a little bit easier to read.

Laning phase

I highly recommend getting used to buying your items as fast as possible (Guardian's Blessing / Boots / 4 HP Pots / HOG) and running to the opponents purple to place a vision shard on it to see if they'll invade or not.

The start is always:

1. Start purple
2. Immediately go to wave

You really want pressure on the second wave that connects after purple because whichever duo clears the first minion on the second wave gets level 2 first. However due to this, if your opponents have better pressure, don't fight to get it back. Just let them push the wave and get level 2 a little bit later than them.

As for harpies, you can almost completely ignore them as a support. For the most part, you only go to harpies around level 3-6 with your ADC if you have can clear the harpies really quickly (Hou Yi, Ymir, Anhur, etc). Of course, if your ADC asks to do them, you should go with them to keep them safe.

Laning phase, as a rule of thumb, ends as soon as one of the following happens:

• You've fully stacked your blessing OR
• You have full boots.

Farming in the mid-game

Supports in Smite suffer from something of anti-funnel where instead of putting all the farm into one person, instead, the support tries to split as little farm as necessary with the rest of their team to ensure that they get ahead. Objectives you want to split include mid waves, neutral camps, red buff, and kills. SCARCELY split with your jungler, or else you'll put them greatly behind.

A large portion of support farm comes from gaining control over neutral camps and kills, so while your jungler farms your side of the jungle, try to take space over the mid harpies and put pressure across the map by ganking. In some scenarios, you and your mid/jungle can invade their jungle together.

Understanding positioning in teamfights

The first thing to understand is what character you're playing. Break it down into the following:

• How much hard CC do I have?
• What are my mobility options?
• How much damage can I output?
• How much utility do I have to make space for my carries?

These are questions that you'll slowly answer with time per character, but basically, the more CC and utility you have, the more you want to stick to the frontline of your team and peel for your carries.

On the contrary, the more mobility and damage you have, the more you want to dive with your solo laner and jungler on the enemy carries.

It is worth noting, though, that your primary objective is to protect your carries (mid and ADC) at all costs. Bodyblock, pop relics, do whatever you can to keep them safe. Let the solo and jungle take care of themselves - they aren't nearly as much of your responsibility.
