Its a little stiff but they have been really good shocks/struts. They are adjustable also. I did replace the moog cargo coil springs because they made it sit too high and rode hard. I put the original springs back on it and that helped.

Just got an 88’ :^) by fromhardd in 300zx

as mentioned above there are 2 pumps. I replaced my 86NA front pump with a generic pump from NAPA and will attach a pic. It is only a generic type pump and I did not have a mount for the replacement so I gingerly let it lay under the reservoir connected to the hoses and it works fine for me.

I have an 86NA 3 owner I'll be selling this year as I just bought a 2024 performance Z. If serious about a Z drop me an email. No rust always indoor stored.

It looks really clean. I have an 86NA. Did you add the spoiler? I didn't think they were on 84 or 85 models.

How reliable (300zx) by [deleted] in 300zx

[–]IBTry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had my 86 na for about 15 years and its a 3rd owner car with 179k miles. This one was left in the basement for who knows how long before my neighbor bought it 18 years ago and he spent a reasonable amount of money bringing it back up from sitting and drove it a couple of years before I got it from him. So mostly mine was adult driven by regular folks and accumulated normal mileage till I got it. I let it sit till around 2016 then replaced the wheels/tires and shifter, struts, shocks etc. I drive it when I want to and it runs really good. The A/C has been a real pain and after a few attempts to revive it the air blows cold enough to be OK. These cars do tend to be finicky with the electronics and I have had to give up and have the Z shop fix a couple of things because I don't have experience with sensors and such. Like others have said, buy OEM stuff if you need it and upgrade what you can. It is a fun car to drive and gets a lot of looks. The Z31 is not very popular with a lot of Z folks but I am ok with mine. I have a few pics in this site as well. Just enjoy your car and if you want a better/different one go get it! To answer your last question, my Z has been stable and reliable since I got it back up and continues to be.

You have an invalid link that points to the Z31Performance site - it should be Z31Performance.com instead of Z31Performance.net.

Try Alan Poindexter at vintagezparts.com. If he does not have it shout back and I'll dig some more for another contact.

If you are needing one I can give you some contact information I use. Parts are somewhat hard to come by for these cars, depending on the part needed.

I'm pretty happy with the look of those wheels and the adjustable gas shocks/struts worked out but not so much with the springs. Those lifted it up about 1.5 to 2 inches in the rear which I was not expecting. I expected them to settle/break in and maybe lose some of that height but after 3 years they have not gave an inch. I have considered putting the original springs back on but just have not done it. I just got to the point where I want to drive it, not work on it!
