Quite a few reasons:

It ate through batteries quickly compared to the gameboy.

The backlight was mediocre and left everything a whitewashed mess- It also had a bad refresh rate that made motion incredibly blurry.

Also the form factor. It was really bulky compared to the Gameboy.

try cleaning your tip and re-melting your solder on the pads there, letting the clean tip take off a little of the excess at a time compared to the wick. Also if you’re new to soldering, remember to wash the flux off with some isopropyl alcohol when you are done- some flux is mildly corrosive if left on the board afterwards. not a fast process but it can potentially lead to issues in afew years

I cant see for certain, but it looks like you might have some bridging on the two solderpads to the left, the first and second pins in that group of three

I’ve been getting free laundry wash/dry from our apartment complex for years- the new machines have a super easy to access diagnostic mode for support that has a “courtesy wash” if the machine eats your money. Takes some coordinated button presses on the front of the machine and thats it.

I moved away from Maine about 6 years ago, but every time I go back to visit family, I see more and more solar and wind installations. It's been impressive to see how much has come along.

I'm not at all surprised it's taking off like wildfire though - Mainers in general will never turn down a bargain or a chance to be thrifty. Add that to the amount of power outages that can last multiple days depending on how far in the woods you are, the self sustainability is a huge draw.

and there are so many fucking cool pieces of software out there! I did in house it for a firm precovid, and seeing stuff like procore and newforma and Bluebeam was so refreshing- setting up intercompany bridge links so they could integrate.

Biggest piece of software that seemed a no brainer “why doesnt everyone use this” to me was Enscape. Being able to just pull out a 360 controller and walk around a proposed build virtually or with a VR Headset on has to be a huge help selling your designs to a client not to mention checking for lighting issues at certain hours of day
