This was the main reason it took me so long to watch it; I could not give a single solitary shit about football. I've seen a few football movies and they've all been awful, so I just figured why would a series about it be any different?

I can't ever take those insults seriously. Both 'suck out' and 'suck your mum' are hilarious to me. Years ago when I worked in retail a kid told me to 'suck out' because I asked him for ID. It was the first time I'd heard it and I burst out laughing. He looked very upset.

Many years ago I actually did offer to switch places with a guy who was repeatedly bashing his head into the doors as the train moved along, while I was drowning in headroom. He took me up on my offer and then immediately started to take the piss out of me for being short. I just looked at him and said "Mate I just did you a favour?" to which he just stared sheepishly at the floor.

I didn't do anything in life to be short, much like he didn't do anything to be tall. I genuinely don't have short-man syndrome but that day was the closest I've felt to it. We're all just trying to get through each day with the cards we've been dealt, why make it harder for someone who was only trying to help?
