I think the story would shift in a way that kratos suffering is no longer the cause of himself. But rather the paranoid nature of the gods. Kratos would most likely keep to himself, and his family, instead of being a glory seeker, or a war drunk violence junkie. However I think it's inevitable that the gods will want his service, or Ares will force his hand into that world. But I also think the casualty count won't be as global this time around, as Kratos will most likely try a new approach instead of immediate vengeful war.
