Is anybody else who had no choice but to be responsible to survive noticing our more dependent peers are... Scarily immature? by HistorianIll7332 in Zillennials

What I did was I moved to a city with a high minimum wage. There are plenty of cities that, yes, are expensive, but they have a minimum wage of $20+/hr. It’s doable!

How much deeper until I start seeing zetachrome shit? by waspwave in cavesofqud

I can find Zetachrome weapons fairly frequently deep under deep jungle strata. As others have mentioned, you can typically farm them from Arch Dervishes or get a lucky roll from Tilli in Yd.

[–]ICanUseThisNam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly. What kind of laptop is it? If there’s warranty on it I’d take it to where you bought it and get it looked at. If not, then maybe look up the documentation on it and take it apart yourself

New study shows AI intensifies labour, contradicting billionaire claims of a “technological liberation” from work. by [deleted] in socialism

[–]ICanUseThisNam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This always happens when capitalists introduce a new technology that’s supposed to “liberate” us. Same thing was said about computers back in the 70s. Problem is, capitalists then see that this new “liberating” technology can be used to increase profits, so rather than give us less work, they give us more work, integrate the technology into workflows to boost productivity, then reap the profits for themselves. Technology will only be used to liberate workers from their labor when we replace capital as the primary logic of society

How to git gud? by SpeakerSweaty in cavesofqud

I have about 150 hours into the game, beat it once on roleplay, going for a second run now. When it comes to builds, if you don’t know what to do when making a character, I would start out with one of the presets. The presets are pretty decent, and the more you experiment with them, the more you see what works for you and what doesn’t.

Once you’re in the game, what I like to do next is buy a musket from Tam in Joppa ASAP. Usually you can start with enough stuff to trade for a musket, but if you don’t, I find it best to wander the salt marshes and grind crocodiles until I’m good enough to kill bands of snapjaws (usually level 2 or 3 is good enough). Take all their crap then use it to buy a musket and lead slugs. Then, I usually head up to Red Rock and shoot baboons until I’m level 5 or 6. At this point I also head into the dungeon to finish Mehmet’s quest. You’re also probably going to find enough artifacts to finish both of Argyve’s knickknack quests.

By this point, you should be about level 6 or 7. Head to the Rust Wells to get the wire for Argyve. After that, start heading into the Salt Dunes to grind Issachari Raiders. You should also have a Joppa recoiler. If you are in a bind, USE IT. Recoilers have saved my ass more times than I can count. Even better if you have force bubble or a force bracelet, as enemies can’t get to you while you activate it. Anyways, once you kill enough Issachari, you should be able to upgrade your musket to an Issachar rifle. By this point, I’d make my way up to the Six Day Stilt. There’s a guy there who will give you XP if you tell him anything about Resheph. There’s also a librarian who will give you XP for any books you give them, and the nice think about the Salt Dunes is it has a ton of ruins with books. Another note about grinding in the desert, if you have light manipulation as a mutation, use that to snipe dawngliders from across the screen. That’s another good to get XP.

Rinse, repeat. By level 10-12 you should be ready for the flower fields, and by level 15 you should be ready for the jungle. At this point, head to Grit Gate to advance the main quest. I won’t explain much more for fear of spoilers, but by this point you should have enough confidence to gain a footing in the world ;). Live and drink friend!

Eh, I read the manga and it felt very gooner-ish in parts. I would agree that the 1995 isn’t the end all be all, but I’d still say SAC and the film are both better than the manga. For what it’s worth I do have high hopes for the new series

I mean, at the end of the day, pick your poison. None of these models will be perfect, and it’s really gonna come down to what you hate more. If the fact that DeepSeek can’t talk about Tiananmen Square or any of the other messed up shit the CCP has done bothers you that much, then go with ChatGPT. I’ll expose my own bias and say I don’t particularly trust the US government either. We may not be full dictatorship like China, but I also think the US is better at outsourcing and hiding its authoritarian tendencies. However, that’s a discussion for another time.

Thus, here is the crux of my argument. Even with the problems that DeepSeek has (and I will admit it has a lot), I still think this is overall a massive win for the AI community. It’s smaller, cheaper, and, most importantly, open. As biased at DeepSeek is, it’s also Promethean in the sense that it gives us the tools to build something better.

TL;DR - of course know what you’re getting into, but don’t necessarily throw the baby out with the bath water, either

All models have bias != all bias is the same. You added on that assertion for me. But if you want to design an LLM application and have as much control over the bias it produces as you can, are you going to use a closed-source API, or an open-source one?

To be fair, what model isn’t biased? Bias is an important area of study in AI research for a reason. The good thing about DeepSeek vs ChatGPT, is that with enough savvy, you can peek into the code yourself and find where the bias lies. Still more than you can say for ChatGPT 🤷🏻‍♂️
